Talking Cross Country Trip w/ BIG Load

Well guys, I just thought you might be curious to hear about a successful cross country trip. I don't write on here much, but I read it all the time and respond from time to time.

Anyway, I left PA with a 1700 payload in my Screw. It was squatting quite a bit, but really didn't care too much. I drove to Indianapolis from eastern PA and averaged about 14.5. From there I drove to Denver and averaged about 15.8. The high mark was 16.8 driving into Denver.

Here is where it got interesting. I picked up a friend and his belongings in Denver. We picked up a U-Haul car hauler and 5 motorcycles. We then stopped and picked up another 3 bikes along the way. That put our towing at about 6000-6500 lbs plusn the 1700 lbs. in the back yet!!

I had a 6.0 PowerStroke before this truck, so it didn't exactly dazzle me with torque, but it certailny did a very respectable job. We had a big headwind in New Mexico and the milage dropped to about 7 . But other than that, it averaged about 10 with the full load. Not too bad really. We had a Hemi that averaged 6.8 towing about 8000 (no payload) and no headwind.

Overall the truck worked perfectly. I did pick up a slight viberation at 70 mph, but I had the wheels balanced when I got to Los Angeles and it seems fine now.

11,000 miles and going strong!!!
