Buddy at work got a Titan

Seems like a lot of the guys here at work are getting new trucks. The trend's been started! In one week three new pick-ups have pulled into the parking lot. All silver to boot! The latest is the new Nissan Titan.

So what's all the hubbub about this truck ? I took a pretty close look at it and I'm not putting two and two together. Is this truck really suppose to be all that? More power, more room, more convenience, more, more, more.........

Not trying to bash, just curious.

I think a lot of the raves have to do with the fact that Nissan comes out of the box with their first full size truck and smoked the Toyota Tundra, at least in the size war. I'll admit there are some things I like about the Titan. For instance, the 5 speed automatic tranny, a 305 HP V8 standard on all Titans, a optional factory spray in liner, a light inside the rear of the pick up box (recessed into the tailgate if memory serves), a really trick optional tie down system, an off road package which includes 285 tires and a price below the "domestic" competitors.

Sure, their sales numbers have been lower than they expected in the first month of 2004. And whether a person likes the Titans styling or not, there is no doubt in my mind that Dodge, Chevrolet and Ford will take note of the Titan and we'll all see some of these features incorporated into the pickups sold by the Big 3, which is good for we, the consumers!

one word for the Titan

CHEAP

The interior looks real cheap, with fm radio type
control buttons. It looks a little better on the outside,
with the exception of the "mad toaster" looking grill.

The interior of the new Ford F-150 blows it away.

I saw my first Titan on the road last week, i just don't think its a good looking truck, doesn't seem to come together when you look at is as a whole (looks better in commercials), something to do with the location of the back tires vs. the bed. Looks awkward to me.

I think Titan sales have been lower than expected because of production contraints, I read something about supplying enough 5.6L V8s to both the Titan truck and Armada SUV from their Mississippi engine plant.

As for the truck in general, my brother'n law just got one. It looks better in person, but just not my cup of tea, especially the front end treatment.

The thing is seriously fast, the latest car magazines have it as fast if not faster than the Dodge Hemi, but that's not why I buy a truck. I'm getting ready to buy a new F150 next year, or keep my Scab and get the new Mustang GT!

Thumbs down DIDDO'S ANAHEIM

I had a Titan following me on the Freeway the other day... surprisingly UGLY just don't care for the look... especially the front end.... another thing about the full sized 2004 4 door Tundra, why doesn't the ever almighty Toyota crack open their wallet and spend a few bucks re-designing something that looks nice instead of the swelled up 7/8 chick truck they call the Tundra? my 2 cents

OK, I've had enough time now to make up my mind on the Titan. Yep, it's an ugly truck. Inside and out. The front end is very snub nosed. Cab size looks out of place in comparison to it's short front end, small bed, and short sides. It's large and bulky, sits too high, and is shaped funny. As for the bed, it's incredibly small. This truck may have the capability to haul a lot, but where are you gonna put it? The interior has that foreign look/feel to it. If you're into that sorta thing, then this is your truck. It's not for me.

Still haven't driven one. Anyone take it out for a test drive yet?

After reading these posts for months and months, seems the most important thing to alot of people is speed, speed, speed, guess there is nothing wrong with that, but, thats not the initial reason i purchased my "TRUCK".
I think the F-150 is a well "balanced" truck.
