Cool First time caller, long time listener

Finally got everything figured out and registered to the site. Now I can finally reply to some of the other posts. So far I love my truck though adding 35" tires to it did make the highway ride a little more bouncy.

chemgod,

Welcome aboard!

Now you've got to set up a gallery so we can see pics of your truck with the 35s and your other toys, too.

Holy Mackeral, fellow talk radio enthusiasts AND Ford owners to boot! Is this a great country or what?

Chemgod, welcome aboard and glad you having fun with the new truck. Agree with JohnandDar, post those pics, really wanting to see the 35's and read what mods, if any beyond the Revtek kit, you've done to the truck to get them to fit.

I will do my best to get a gallery going. Though I use computers every day in my job I'm not very good with them. Thanks for the welcome and I hope to add a helpful 2 cents worth on some things.

By the way, for the people who have installed leveling kits, I did not have to trim anything and they fit right in (on the factory rims). That may not be the case with aftermarket. the Revtek kit is machined Billet alluminum and should outlast the Daystar poly kit.

Chemgod....

It's a wonder I ever get any work done around the office since my addiction to F150online has reared it's ugly head once again!

You're able to clear 315's without further trimming, etc. So there is no rubbing, even at FULL steering lock, both left and right?

Did the 35's take a huge bite out of the low end with the 3.73 axle ratio?

Looking forward to the pics!

Talking

I went in for a fit test at my local Tire Center and they put a LT315 on the front drivers side. We put it down cranked it all the way to the rght and left without rubbing. Though my wife wasn't overly pleased with my addiction I said might as well put the other 3 on now. After backing it out I turned the wheel all the way to the right and left again and no rubbing so no trim needed. I also had it out on the lake this past weekend horsing around and no problems.

No loss of low end takeoff: however, once it shifts into overdrive it takes a little more throttle to speed up and pass. After Cruse is set at highway speeds it still does not seem to shift in and out of overdrive with hills and wind as my 2002 with 3.55LS did.

I know they are referred to as 35s by manufacturers, but let's not forget that those tires are actually 34.3" (BFG spec says 34.5", calculation says 34.3"), not a true 35". I know 0.7" isn't a big deal though, but it may be why they fit without rubbing. stock rims probably help too as mentioned above.

good luck running them on stock rims. they look good, but it is not recommended by the tire manufacturer. they spec in 8.5-10" wide rims. stock are 7.5" wide.

i must say your truck looks very nice with the lift and tires. enjoy!

Thanks for the input BrewMaster. I know they are not exactly 35", but close enough for me. There seems to be enough room even with all the tire trvel during offroading to support a true 35". I knew they are not recommended for 7.5" rims and lamented over it for weeks; However, others I know who have run in this fashion have not had any problems (except when lowering air pressure to improve traction on sand and rock climbing).

Are you a real brewmaster? Just curious. I considered going to school for that in Chicago, but after 5 years of undergrad work I had enough!!

BrewMaster... A point well taken. One of my customers who owns a '03 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins is running BFG 315's on his factory 17 x 8 rims. The late model Dodge trucks have a ton of backspacing, very simliar to the '04 F150's. He's been experimenting with air pressures in order to keep the tire from "ballooning" in the middle of the tread. He's fudging, even with a 8" wide rim. Still though, they look really good on both his and Chemgod's truck.
