Rear leg room in the SCAB????
Hey! Guys new to the forum trying to get info so Ican order My F-150 in six months! Whats the space like in the supercab good enough for two adults or should I opt for the SCREW the extra 3gs are a little much
how often will you have rear seat passengers and secondly how long will they be in the back seat?
these questions will give you the answer.
I don't think the rear seat legroom is too too bad for short occasional trips and the front seat is moved forward a few inches

I sat in the back of a SuperCab to test the room myself. I'm 5'8". I noticed about 1 inch of room between my knee and the front seat, when the front seat was in the position I would use to drive it. That's pretty good. I was recently in the back seat of a 98 Monte Carlo and I noticed my knee was buried in the front seat back if I tried to put my knees directly in front of me. So it seems I have more room in the SuperCab than in a Monte Carlo.
I wondered the same thing when I ordered (I've had my Scab 2 weeks now, all I can say is "WOW WOW WOW").
Anyway, I ordered a Scab for several reasons:
1. I have twin 1 yr old boys and they have plenty of room in the back seat (I had a Ranger and didn't like strapping the car seats in the bed with bungee cords
)
2. I wanted the largest bed possible because I do plenty of hauling (I wanted the 8' bed but with the Lariat you can only get the 5.5' or 6.5' bed so I got the 6.5')
3. I am 5'9" and with the driver's seat in a comfortable position for me, there is ample room in the back for adults. I wouldn't want to ride from LA to NY back there, but for short trips (2-3 hrs) I think it would be fine.
4. The cost. Like you said, almost $3k is steep for an extra 6" or so of leg room especially when the primary occupants will be kids.
Other observations:
I like the way the back doors open out. When I put my laptop in the truck after work, I don't have to walk around a conventional door to get to the back seat. It is very convenient to just pop the door open, put in whatever (groceries, laptop) and shut the door. On the other hand, in tight parking spaces it could be a pain because the back door might get in the way. (Of course, I've never parked within 50' of another vehicle so it hasn't been a problem for me,
)
Hope this helps

)Reminds me of growing up and going 100 miles on interstate standing up in the bed facing the front of truck trying to blow bubbles into the wind!
I did test out the Supercab as I have owned sever of the 97 - 03 models. There is decent room back there for short trips. I have twin 14 yr olds and opted for the SCrew (resisted as long as I could)
I'm six foot even. When I sit in my drivers position, I can hop out and get in the seat behind the driver with about an inch of leg room. It could be that I sit close in the front, but in my opinion the extra bed (1-2.5ft) outweighs .5ft of legroom in the SCREW.

Leg room
I have 4 kids - 7-14 years old. When I started looking for a truck wanted an '03 SCab. After a little looking around, I noticed the lack of room in the older body-style. I gathered up the wife and kids and headed to the dealer. I figured out real quick when I put the kids in the back that they'd never be comfortable. I really didn't want a SCrew (I wanted a longer bed and will be in it alone or with 1 child most of the miles). The extra cab space in the '04 made all the difference in the world for us. My 2nd daughter is 14 with long legs and she fits just fine behind me (6ft) and I usually keep my seat all the way back (though on long trips she'll ride behind or 5' tall mom (or in the front - with mom next to me
).
The '04 is such a great truck and this issue was a biggie for my crew.
