Car and Driver?

I was watching Car and Driver TV today and saw that they picked the F150 as the best pickup. This is the most two faced thing I have ever seen considering they picked the Titan as their 04 pickup of the year.

I think part of their reasoning for giving the Titan the award was to give the first real competition in the full size truck market by the Japanese the recognition it deserves. The F150 is the better truck as the current award shows, but the fact that the Japs are starting to get it right in the only segment where America still dominates is a very significant thing, and should not be ignored by American manufacturers. I prefer to buy American, but lets face it, in the biggest selling classes the Japs make better cars, hopefully the Americans are finally waking up and taking notice, as their failure would be very bad for the country. The Ford Five Hundred had better be as good as the new F150 to compete against the Accord, the Altima, and the Camry. The Taurus couldn't do it anymore, and the response by Ford is WAY late in the segment, but lets hope they have done it.

My fingers are crossed. Does Ford have a larger engine for it, and have they fixed the CVT problems?

The Taurus was and still is a great car. The problem was the way it was pushed into rental fleets, etc. This caused the public to look at the car in a different way. They saw somany used as rental cars and fleet vehicles that they were not looked at in the same light.

I saw the same show. The explanation given was that for the
"Top 5" competition on tv, they chose the F-150 over the Titan based on the entire lineup of F150's not just the 1-1 competition that was in the magazine.
So they came to their senses a little late? At least the new 150 is now tops in both Motor Trend and Car and Driver..

I agree on the Taurus, I owned a wagon, but it went way too long without significant updates. It is very long in the tooth today, but I personally still like the styling, and you can get one pretty cheap.

The real problem for Ford is that they make little or nothing on them supposedly, time for new car.
