Just solved my fuel mileage problem...
Just solved my fuel mileage problem...
I have started taking my own truck up to the cities for my monthly meetings. I put on about 250 miles each round trip. I can run up an back and use about 24 gallons. I now will get reimbursed for fuel. I will get reimbursed 38 cents per mile. That's $95.00 and in reality I spent $39 for the fuel. I use about two tanks per month including that triip. So therefore, my fuel is now paid for for the entire month. It won't matter if I get 5 mpg or 18 mpg. I don't have to pay for it. Granted, I would love to get better but it's free money for fuel.
Can't complain about that...

I hope your getting more than you stated once before (about 7 or 9). You still should get better than that. Did you take it in for service or find a problem? Anyway glad to hear your gas is free that would be great if I could get a sweet deal like that.

you obviously haven't worked out wear and tear yet. Figure out all expenses with the truck: depreciation, insurance, maintenance etc and see what the cost per mile is. 38 cents per is a fair reimbursement, but its also not really free gas, only subsidized.
I also use my own vehicle for work and get 37.5 cents per mile for doing so. The 37.5 is a federal government number that's adjusted each year. Last year it was 36.0, the year before it was 38.0. Average gas prices for the year and inflation dictate the number.
My average miles per week is 650. I drive the Pontiac Vibe as much as possible since it gets 32-36 MPG. This will be my first full week on the road with the F150. I only had two days out last week and found myself with 17.8 MPG.
Can't wait for the warmer weather to see the mielage improve. I've always found it best at 60-80 degrees. I understand why warmer weather helps my mileage, but why does hot weather have an adverse effect. Is it the AC or what?
