Question for the board???
I'm shopping for a new pickup and am not going to buy until next Sept.
I haven't done any test drives yet and when I buy it'll be a 2005.
If you had to compare the noise level, and ride comfort of a 2004 F150 to another vehicle (in terms of the two being most alike), what would that vehicle be?
I'm either going to buy an F150, Silverado of a Dogdge Ram.
Thanks in advance!

Being totally objective in this reply, the answer to your inquiry is: There is CURRENTLY no comparison of the two standards you identify (noise level and ride comfort) and you'll be amazed at the '04s competence in those areas. Ford is the CURRENT winner hands down.
That's what I hear, that the ride and comfort is great.
I wonder how it compares to a new Exployer? Or something of that class.
I think the F150 and new Exployer share the same chassie.

The Explorer and Ranger share the same chassis. The new '04 has a totally redesigned chassis, with something like 9 times more stiffness in the steel, and full box welds. It is my understanding no other Ford vehicle uses the new chassis.
The Explorer and F150 are not even comparable in size, chassis, etc. If you were thinking about an SUV or F150, you should compare the F150 to either the Expedition or Excursion.

The Expedition and F-150 are similar size, but were not developed together. AFAIK, they don't share many parts either where the old F-150 and Expeditions did. The new Expy doesn't even get the 300 HP 5.4 3V engine that the F-150 has. It uses the 2V 260 HP version.
The ride of the F-150 doesn't have any peers out there that I know of. The easiest way to demonstrate that is to drive a few different trucks yourself. Take them over some rough pavement or a few railroad crossings, then down the freeway. There's a HUGE difference. Crosswinds don't seem to bother it either. That was a problem with my '01 Expy. It was a constant battle to keep it straight when it got windy. The F-150 doesn't mind wind at all.
