Carcinogens in Spray in Liners?

I've done a lot of looking into spray-in bedliners and thought they were a pretty good deal.

Today I was in talking to a guy about tonneau covers (A.R.E.) and I was asking about getting the liner put in before they put on the lid. He said his people were not allowed to even touch the spray in stuff because there is a carcinogen in the liner. Has anyone ever heard of this? He also went on to say that his insurance company wouldn't insure his truck if he put the spray in in the his truck.

Just to caveat, he did sell Bed Rug at his store. Don't know if he was feeding me a bunch of bull or not, so I thought I'd ask you guys. DOn't want to get a cancer causing liner for my truck if it's going to pose a danger to me, family, or pets.

Ha ha! This site is a trip sometimes. I didn't realize how many people out there smoked crack on a daily basis until I read this site.

Not you, vtn98, but some of these people that feed consumers crap 24/7 like their lives depended on it. This, then there's the dealership that told one of our members that Ford QUIT, that's right, QUIT making captains chairs.

I personally have had Line-X on my last 4 trucks and have never had problems with them. My dog is ok, and so am I. If the liners do contain carcinogens, it's ok by me, it looks and works great. There are more things in life to worry about...like all of the polution caused by their crack pipes, cough, cough.

That too, is a load of crap. I have never heard this...and my career is in auto insurance claims. They won't insure him because his permanently-mounted-crack-pipe on the dash is illegal in most states.

Not only do RhinoLiner and Line-X not contain any carcinogens, the spray process also produces NO VOC emissions.

You could eat off the liner the rest of your life if you wanted to.

I wonder how many bed rugs the clown sells to naive buyers who buy his b.s.?

All joking aside, I do believe as long as the spray-in liners have been out that they would have found this out long before now.

P.S. I dont think that guy would eat off of the liner, but he might take a snort off of it.

spray in liners are a combination or polyurethane and polyurea. i deal with both all the time in my lab. no, they are not carcinogenic nor are any of the curatives they use. I would not purchase anything from such a dishonest retailer.

just to be clear, as with a lot of mods, many insurance companies will not insure the LINER, but they most certianly will insure the truck. what a loser to go passing off false information to you.

How very convenient that the salesperson failed to mention the methylene chloride, formaldehyde, etc. in the foam rubber backing of the bed rug...maybe he would deny the health concerns/illnesses related to the occupancy of buildings with newly carpeted floors. What an ignorant jerk!

Talking LOL Still Laughing

The "Floor Manager" to one of th largest Ford Truck dealers here, told me, with a straight face, that the reason the new F150 had the best ride was because it was the first full size pick-up with fully 4 wheel "independent suspension".

I stared at him a minute or so, and said "Really"? He said "Oh Yes, It is a Ford Exclusive". I left, and never went back.

This may explain why they have over 450 unsold F150's on the lot. Many made as far back as last August!

Good info, it was just as I suspected. He wouldn't mention a brand name, so I wonder if he was referring to soome lesser known companies and brands that weren't as successful as LineX and Rhino. After thinking about it, I was going to get the Rhino anyway seeing as it has been around a long time with very few complaints.

Thanks for all the replies! You guys rock!

once they say that sex causes cancern, there will be utter caos as no one will care at that point.

I once had a GMC dealer tell me that I should buy the GMC instead of the chevy truck because even though they are made at the same plant, they take more care in building the GMC version.

ahhhh....... yea.....

bought a gmc at a dealer 20 miles farther away. (that was back when i worked for GM)

I now , of course, own a ford....just to clarrify.....
