Something for the engineers and teckies
I found something very interesting and would like some feed back. Does anyone know of or heard of Hyper-Grounding? This is a multiple cable kit that adds grounding to the engine components. Information about this can be found on the www.g35driver.com site. Look in the forums section, under technical area. They have some interesting feed back and results information.
The G35driver has a better write up but this will give you some idea of what i am trying to describe www.nolimitmotorsport.com/hyperground/

I editied my post after reading through some of the post on the other site. Seems like they are concerned about noise on the sensors. Guess this could help, it would make a lot of sense in some cases. Grounding can do wonders for some problems. Seems like the root cause is crappy wiring or poor wire routing from the factory. My wife had a Honda before we dumped that POS and bought the Ford. I was never impressed with that car. Never did understand what the big deal was about them. All the wiring under the hood was very small and cheesy looking. Seems that the way those cars were built was "just enough" for what they were designed. Never any extra built in, no head room. The battery cables and ground in the Honda were pretty weak looking. It did start without problems, and ran fine, but I was always concerned about the longevity of that car.
The other thing to consider is when someone spends money on a mod like that, they are ALWAYS going to see an improvement, even if there isn't one. It is psycological. I did this to make my car go faster, therefore it does. Just like the fancy stickers on the sides of the ricers add a few horsepower.
Not being an electrical engineer, but working in telecommunciations engineering, I can see where they are coming from with this mod. I doubt that some of the claims are 100% true, remember, someone is trying to make money off of this. Spending $4.00 a foot for cable seems a bit extreme, gold plate lugs etc, sounds like it is more for show than go. The goal is better grounding, not current carrying capacity. Good copper cable and copper ground lugs, properly installed would probably work as well, but not look as fancy. Wire is cheap, and extra grounding isn't going to hurt. Would be interesting to do a real quanatative test and see if there really is an improvement. I firmly belive that most American (Ford GM etc) vehicles are not built as cheaply as some of the imports, and our trucks probably are built well enough that you probably wouldn't see much of an improvement.
As for my wife's POS honda, yeah, I could see where it could help, or at least not hurt. My brother in law has always complained about the crappy wiring in him BMW too. Seems like when you spend that much on a car, the whole package should be there and done right, not a fancy outside with crappy internals.
