Box Misalignment

I look out my side drivers mirror and i can see the box, the part closest to the cab, is out a quarter inch, so i get out and get behind the truck and size it up, yes, the box is shifted slightly to the drivers side by the cab.

Anybody else notice this, i got a flareside xcab FX4. Burns me to have to bring it to the shop to get that fixed, could live with it by i don't want to.

That would be dumb on the dealers part. That is such a simple fix. I'm sure if you really want them to they will take care of it for you.

Angry Me to ...off center

My box is off slightly to the drivers side as well... I was thinking of loosening it and moving it but then decided best do nothing. Then went down to the dealer and looked around and noticed just about everyone was off center as well... must have to do with the assembly line. or someone needs new glasses..

My box is the same way. It sits to the drivers side by about a quarter inch but doesn't stick out past the side. It really should line up with the part that curves in at the back of the cab. I have only noticed this with the flairsides.

for how much you paid for the truck, it's not unreasonable to expect straight body panels.

i am not patronizing anyone, but does it stick out on the passenger side too? is it perhaps a little wide on both sides and perhaps not misaligned? i don't know, i'm just offering a suggestion.

The marrying of the bed and the cab to the frame is all automated.

I noticed it on some at the dealer too.

Some things are done by hand. the stickers for example(Lariat,FX4, pin stripping etc...) are put on 'Free hand', no laser light, tape measure, nothing and it's a different person that puts on the right or the left.

They must have been doing it a long time to keep them straight.
I bet when everyone finds out their pinstripping went on freehand they run out to their truck and eyeball it.
(I know I did)
