Salt Spray in Engine Compartment
Living in the artic that is Wisconsin my entire underhood area is white with salt spray. I think this is because FORD has no wheel well protection. Any help on getting this mess removed??

I'm troubled by the white coating in the compartment myself, but thought maybe I am overly sensitive to it having gone from a white F150 to a dark red. I figure as soon as Waukesha County quits dumping a ton a day on our streets I'll try one of the low pressure engine cleaners at the local self serve wash.
Since we're talking salt, has your muffler gone completely red with surface rust already? Mine looks lawful after only six weeks, and it's highly visible with the open rear wheel well. I can't imagine it will last more than a couple seasons before rusting through from the outside. I'm starting to have a spastic colon from tensing up every time I drive through a puddle just knowing the salt water's eating my truck.

This white stuff that you see, is it just on the insulation blanket on the hood? My 2000 F250 has never been in the salt, but the blanket looks like it has a layer of dried salt on it. I've washed the engine compartment a couple of times (including spraying the blanket). I wonder if it is something that leaches out of the insulation after it is wet???
