JHCIR, not sure why you would want to get rid of such a great truck. However, you need to remember if you trade it in that is less taxes you have to pay. For example.

They offer you $29,000 multiply by your tax rate. Here its 7% so 29,000 x .07 = $2030. So if you bought a new vehicle for say $35,000 the normal tax would be 35,000 x .07 (or your tax rate) = $2450. If you trade in your 04 you could subtract 2030 from the 2450 and only be paying $420 in taxes.

So trading would be like selling for $29,000 + $2030 = $31,030.

Just up to you whether you think you think its worth the extra $870. Don't forget you will have to advertise to sell and that will take away from the 870.

If you have an extended warranty you can cancell that and get the prorated amount in return before you sell or trade. Althought an ext warranty does help sell. They can also apply the prorated amount of ext warranty to the new purchase.

Personally, i think that 29,000 is a pretty good offer for trade since you can get a fully loaded FX4 Screw for invoice which is around 34,000. It sucks but they depreciate a good bit when you drive them off the lot.

What was original invoice and/or MSRP?

Out of curiosity, what are you looking to buy to replace it?

brannong, it depends on what state your in. In Maryland, you pay the taxes on the price of the truck after discounts, not after trade-in. Unfortunately.

Thats interesting. I didn't know that. I guess there is another advantage to living in the Georgia? So they calculate taxes and then deduct your trade. Then the new buyer has to pay taxes again. Sounds like double taxation to me.

I don't know what they do in NJ I'll have to find out. My MSRP was 38K but I got a deal pecause my 03 was take back by Ford so my total oop was around 34K that includes the bed cover & some other extra. I guess 29 is not that bad thanks for the help I will shop around. My replacement I will figure out if I get a good price

Why are you selling the truck? Is it because of all the negative post's you've seen and read on this site? Or is it because you really don't like the truck after you bought it. Just wondering...

I feel that the truck could be better. I have had some issues with the ride & handeling. I had a field service tech look at my truck 2 times for the steeringwheel shimmy & the poor handeling when driveing. If you hit ant bump in my truck the tires feel like they lose contact with the road and the truck can't hold a line. Fords responce to me was this is the truck. I don't trust this truck on the road it feels unsafe.
