Hello all.. forgive my ignorance.. can someone tell me what the Rectangular box that sits behind the rear view mirror does? Dealser said it was for the auto dimming mirror but I have seen it on trucks with regular mirrors? Any helps is appreciated.

 

i think it also has the sensor for the automatic headlights to come on when it gets dark.

 

I believe that's the compass sensor.

Just as an FYI, the autolamp sensor is located in that small black bubble on the left front corner of the dash area. (Where the red theft light flashs.)

 

Thanks for all the info. I looked some more at this and can see where it is the Compass and Temp sensor.. questiuon is, what is the button on the top of th box for. I have read the manual and can't find any reference to it (being from GA my reading isn't the best! :-) )

Also can anyone confirm that this box is for the Compass and outside temp sensor?. I mashed the button a heap a times and nuthin seems to happen.....

 

Also, concerning the little black rectangular box behind the rear view mirror...does anyone know if that can be taken off easily, or is it glued? I wanted to have a strip of window tint put up on the windshield, the the installer would have nothing to do with it. Should I take it off and tint, or try to cut around it to tint?
