What weight Synthetic should I use

I would like to keep this very simple for me please as I don't want to much information for overload...My Question here is this...
I have an 04 with the 5.4 engine with 3500 miles on the engine...

I am wanting to know what weight of synthetic you all suggest...

I have the 5w-20w synthetic blend Motorcraft..

I have a Walmart in the area so I can get several brands but would like to know what would be the correct weight to use...My area is on the Oregon Coast...so not real cold and not real dusty in the summer...Temp ranges here are from 20's in the winter to the 90's in the summer...

So what weight should I use to keep the warranty correct and also to make sure the engine is not damaged by incorrect weight oil used...

Thanks
Steve

I will keep it simple. I have 2003 5.4 FX4.
In winter I use MOBIL 1 0W-20

In summer I use MOBIL 1 5W-30

With that said, I felt it important to add one more item. I think it is extremely important to use a top quality filter, something in the 10-12 dollar range. I always use the MOBIL 1 Filter that MOBIL claims to be made specifically for MOBIL 1 oil.

1. Get in truck
2. Open glove box
3. Look in Owner's Manual

why thank you very much I would have never thought of that...

Will wonders never cease in the world....

I came here to ask a question because I value the information I get from here...But if this is the type of nonsense that is posted it becomes a waste of valuable time...Mine....

Thanks anyway for the effort...

The synthetic Mobil1 equivelant (there is no 5W20 Mobil1) isn't listed in the manual and you can't search this site with a 3 letter word (oil).

Blues is correct - 0W20 Mobil1 exceeds Fords specs for the '04 5.4L.

wheeler...another way to keep it simple is to be aware that the recommended 5W20 (vs. 5W30) is a CAFE issue not a lubrication issue. 5W30 will lubricate just as well, won't affect warranty (local Ford dealers use it for oil changes), and will only cost you, according to official numbers, approx. .23 mpg average.

Incidentally, my wife was born in Toledo...luv buying the fresh Yaquina Bay oysters downriver...will be attending the wine fest at the end of the month.

Grimalkin...cool that the wife was born here...I have lived here for 38 years so I may know your wife....and yes the oysters are still pretty darn good in this area....I will use the information here on the oil situation and probably go with the 0w-20 synth....Thanks again for the help guys and gals....Oh by the way Grimalikin...I graduated in 74 from Toledo High school....not sure what ages you are but if she may know me then hello from here and enjoy the wine festival...Take care and be well...

Just keeping it simple like you asked, and please, don't wear you feelings on your shirt sleeve. If you don't want any hassle over your warranty, use what is specified in the manual.

I use 0w-20 or 5w-30 Amsoil.

blitzkrieg,
And it is possible to do a search on just one word, oil, or two words, oil + weight.

Here we go again. Each of you return to your corners and come out swinging at the bell.
