I am pondering the same thing. First thing I did though was get Line-X installed since I haul alot of stuff around and love the look and durability of my Line-X

Just my .02, first thing for me is the Daystar leveling kit. Then going for the Borla cat back split rear exhaust. I know the Daystar isnt a performance mod but for me it is neccessary because looks are important to me. The reason I choose the exhaust next is, have you seen the muffler on this truck? Its huge, plus you get that satisfying sound from the exhaust note. After that, maybe a cold air intake. Not sure if I want to pay for premium gas just yet with a reprogram of the computer. If this is not a problem for you, the programmer will more than likely give you the most output for the money. I havent heard if anyone has come out with a programmer for the new 5.4 in case thats what you have.

Well, thats a pretty open-ended question when it comes to performance, but I'll give you my best advice directly related to your question (best bang for the buck - not restrictions posed):

1) Nitrous Oxide. By far the cheapest HP/$ mod you can make.

2) Chip mod. Second cheapest HP/$ mod you can make.

Both will void your warranty - if you get caught.

When we start talking legal/warranty acceptable mods the list get longer, and the HP/$ ratio goes down.

I'm curious how much better the Borla sounds compared to the factory exhaust. I understand that a lot of effort went into getting a good sounding exhaust, but I haven't heard one so I don't know. I just know that a friend's Dodge half ton sounded a whole lot better than my F250. (Too bad the squirrel destroyed his truck.)

Well..... Bang vs. Buck..... its a delema that we have all faced..... now if I could only get this...... http://www.whipplesuperchargers.com/...sp?ProdID=1203

Actually thinking about selling my motorcycle to get it. There is just something about a 50% gain in horsepower that rings in my ear.

Couldn't find a price on there, do you have any idea? I used to think the 12-13 mpg I'd heard for Lightnings was unbearable, but hell, I'm barely beating 14 now.

No, there is no price listed yet on there but I am hoping that it will be similar to the previous model price Hey R6jojo, is the R6 for Yamaha?

HankB, sound is a matter of personal preference. I can only speak for myself. My opinion is the factory muffler is too big, it is 31" long, and too quiet. The Borla exhaust is not the loudest on the market, but it has a nice mellow rumble and will not bother you on a long drive where some of the louder ones might. I have had a Borla system before and am familiar with the quality of their products and warranties, costs a little more, but worth it to me. I havent gotten mine yet, but once I do maybe I can be of more help.

TOTAL KIT PRICE . . . . . . . . . . . Black finish: $4,195 || Polished: $4,795 for the V-10, so I am assuming that it will be about the same.

I have a 2002 R6 is why I asked. Love the bike but thinking of getting rid of it to buy more toys for the truck lol.....

FYI: Talked to Josh at Whipple today. The '04 5.4L 3V F-150 kit has not come back from California emission certification yet, so the release date is now going to be at least another two months out. He said pricing looks to be about $4,100 in black and $4,700 polished. That price is for the SC without the intercooler. No firm pricing on an intercooler, but questimate is around $1,000 more. BTW, Josh mentioned they are running their test mule with 8lb (of boost) pulley, but the kit is coming with a 6lb pulley. They are getting no pinging running 8lbs of boost and no intercooler, and the driveline is completely stock. The 6lb version tested just under 500 HP at the flywheel -- now THAT is my idea of a serious performance mod!!
