Towing with 4.6?

Anyone done any towing witht he 4.6 motor yet? I kind wished I'd bought the 5.4, but I didn't. We want to tow a small 17 to 22 foot camper. Been finding weight ranges of 2600 to 3400 dry weights, so I should be will under my towing max with the 3.55 rearend. Other towing will be towing VW Buses home, if my wife doesn't catch me buying another one . These should be under the wt limit also even on a trailer.

Just curious as to other folks experience with this combo.

Love the truck though. First one I've owned. Drove a buddies 01 F150 on a trip couple years back and I can't belive the rides difference in these new ones.

I tow an 8 x 12 trailer with 2 quads and 2 dirt bikes holds 55 mph no problem even while climbing the cajon pass, elevation approx. 4200 ft.

Thumbs up No Problem Towing

I just towed my 17' Jayco Kiwi this past week with my 4.6L. It performed beautifully and flawlessly. Sounds like my camper and yours are nearly identical in weight. The kicker is to make sure you turn you O/D off. At the expense of gas mileage you'll maintain enough power to handle most any hills.

Good to hear, I will be pulling a Jeep Rubicon with mine. It has the 3.73 gears at least.

Keeping your overdrive off will keep your tranny from overheating on hilly roads. On flat highway driving o.d. on is not a problem. I towed a 4800lb. camper with my 2001 screw no problem.
