Thumbs up Hi All-- Loving my New F 150!!

Hi Guys:
Just picked up my new F150 XLT/Torreadaur Red over Beige--Yahoo!!. I love it. Can't stop driving it around. Really tight, and handles really well. I'm not pulling anything-- and opted for the 4.6, which feels pretty good to me.

I just have a couple of questions for some of you that have had your 2004 rigs for a while..

Just read on another website, some folks are having problems wit the electronic throttle control/ and sensors. Just wondering if this is a common problem??

Can some of you guys please let me know how your 2004's are running, and if you're having any problems (also how many miles you have on them).

I love mine and want to keep it a long time!

Thanks for any input.

Joe.

Welcome, Clicker, and congrats on your new XLT.

No problemo with the throttle control...some folks just don't like the "dead" space on initial depression. Eventually, most get used to it. But, it's a great feature for rock crawling.

Four months and nearly 5000 miles on my Shadow over Silver XLT Screw...appears to be nearly faultless. Some peculiatities (bed shake, engine vibes through the mounts at 50-60 mph), but this is one fine truck! Ford did a supreme job for '04.

Congratulations on your new truck, hope you are loving it as much as Im loving mine. I have had no problems with mine so far. Ive got around 1600 miles on mine so far. You shouldnt have a problem with the throttle because only the 5.4 3v engine is drive by wire. So thats one less thing you have to worry about. Hope this eases your mind.

Thanks guys... I'm glad to hear how much you all like your rigs. I hope more folks add their personal experiences to the link also.

Grayflare.... I thought I read that for 2004 the 4.6 also went to the electronic throttle control and sensor etc? Are you sure its a manual linkage?

Thanks again for your postings.... I love hearing how great your trucks have been behaving.

Please anyone else that can add anything, I do appreciate hearing from ya....

Thanks again!
Joe

I could be wrong on that, I havent seen one in person, but I thought it was only on the 5.4. To find out for sure you can look under the hood for a manual linkage and cable, or an electrical motor operating the throttle. Sorry if my info was wrong.

Per the 2004 F150 brochure:

"New Electronic Throttle Control:
New on both V8 engines is a segment-first, wheel-torque based electronic throttle control. This fighter jet inspired technology uses the accelerator pedal to actively modulate torque at the drive wheels, producing a smooth, seamless engine response."

Love my truck, 16 days old, 2500 miles. Hauled 25 bales of hay in the bed; hauled almost 1,000 pounds of horse feed; driven interstate, city, highway, and country roads on ice and snow and in the rain.

Still waiting for a good reason to tow, but this is a great truck!

I opted for the 4.6L, regular cab, 3.72 LS rear end bought on Saturday.

Seemed real close in performance to the SuperCab, 5.4L without the rear end. Plus, I think I got an outstanding deal on the STX too.

I got the tow package and plan on using it, I also didn't think I would ever have haul anything over about 5500 lbs total either.

The truck is beyond way impressive, at it's price point for sure.

Enjoy!!!!
