Just Picked up Black 2004 Lariat - a few Questions?

I'll get some pics together, but after 'losing' my ordered truck because it didn't come in correct, I found a replacement. Had to compromise with no reverse sense, different color, no memory seats...but still real happy with what I found:
*Black and 'Gold' Lariat, Black Interior
*4x4 with limited slip and towing package - gotta have for the boat!
*Will be adding aftermarket reverse sense
*The dealer wants $450 for a Line-X application - I'm going straight to the Line-X dealer and saving some money

Damnnnnnned nice truck!

Now with dancing bananas out of the way, the QUESTIONS :
*The dealer wants $399 for Carecraft Paint Sealant and Leather protect, 5 year warranty. Is this worth anything (I've never owned black, only reason considering) or should I just have my local detail shop set me up?
*The nerf bars that dealer installed were Deezee, and they are crap - flex in the middle - they just look nice. Had dealer take them off. I want tube/oval bright chrome - any suggestions on ones that are stronger/better (will be used as a step and look good - no offroad for this beauty).

All I can say is - Finally! Finally! - BTW - Plantation Ford in Ft. Lauderdale - real nice, smaller Ford dealer . Straight shooting, no pressure, good price, made it easy after a lousy week working with other dealers that didn't have it together - beginning with the one that hosed up my original truck order...

Congrats on your new truck

In regards to your chrome tube runningboards take a look at Ford accessories , they have 4" and 5" oval tubes. I think they look good. In fact I did not order the factory tubes because I think these look much better.

Don't waste your money on the paint sealant. All you need is a good coat of wax on today's paint jobs. Reputable dealers don't even offer paint sealant anymore. In fact, sealants can damage a new paint job by not letting all the chemicals release. You can protect your own leather for about 20 bucks with Zymol at your local auto parts store.

Frank S - thanks. I can't find any compelling reason for the sealant, and have always just kept my vehicles up by waxing. I'm not inclined to spend a boatload of cash on this option right now. Winter (or anyone) - do you have pics / gallery of the Ford nerf bars on the truck? Thanks.

Spray-in Bed Liner -- I told my dealership that I had other shops bidding on my business (which I did). They asked what my best price was and I told him $330. The dealership said the best they could do was $345. I had the dealership do it for two reasons: 1) was able to roll this into the price of the truck with a lower tax rate, and 2) it's covered by the warranty. Shop around ... I'm sure the dealership will be happy to match (or come close) to others' pricing. I saved $$$ on every aftermarket mod by doing this.

As for your local Line-X dealer. Hit the web site to see if they have an online coupon. Mine offers $20 off. You might even try to get them to 'compete' for your business as well. More things are negotiable than you think.

Step Bars -- I bought mine from a Ford dealership through eBay (longlewisford)! I got Westin (black) for a SuperCrew for $200. They were VERY helpful and will quote you anything they have in stock, etc. They ship 3-day FedEx for FREE.
