K&N Air Filter Same As 97-03?

I have a 2000 F150 with a K&N air filter.

I am ordering a 2004 F150 FX4 (5.4 Liter of course) on Monday.

Can I use my K&N on the new truck?

I'm only asking because I transferred my K&N from my 1997 F150 4.2 V6 to my 2000 F150 4.6 V8 and was hoping they used the same one on the 2004 5.4.

Thanks,

Jake

Sorry to tell you, but no. The new 5.4 3v engine has a new flat, square filter instead of the round conical of the previous years.

Are you saying that your taking the used filter from another vehicle and installing it in a new one.....???

Yep, why not?

It's a cleanable, reusable filter, so I cleaned it and reoiled it and put it back in service.

As a matter of fact I've been using it now since 1996 and it's got probably 75,000 miles on it.

I had a 01 f-150 supercab with the 4.2, put a k&n in that, then bought my 04 f150 supercab with the 4.6, and like a dummy forgot to take it out! Uses the same filter.
So, after my current paper filter runs its course, will have to spend another 50 bucks.
