Climate Control Question

Can anyone tell me if heat is supposed to come out from under the front captains chairs, supplying the back seat area when the **** is set to blow from the floor? I have a 4x4 lariat with a flo-thru console. The dealer tells me you will only get air thru the two vents behind the console when the control is sent to vent but it's not designed to come out from under the seats when selected to floor.

Mine sends air from under the seats. At least, that is what one of my early passengers told me. I've never actually confirmed it myself.

Fieldman,

I've got an '04 Lariat and have wondered the same thing. I just haven't gotten around to checking...too damn cold out. Anyway, the few times I've glanced under there, I haven't noticed any discernable ducts. However, I would think there would have to be some under there somewhere.

The Lariats all have EATC and when the system is in AUTO calling for heat, you'll notice the airflow is primarily coming from the floor vents in front. I'd think since most people would run theirs in AUTO, they would have to have to designed something to flow to the backseats.

I've asked the dealer this question and of course..... they don't know. Like you said, been too cold to check but the people that ride in the back of my truck say they don't feel anything. Sounds like the FX4 does have it though. Doesn't make sense.
