First Maintenance
First Maintenance
So I take my 04 Supercab Lariat in for scheduled maintenance today. I took it to Galpin Ford in Cali. I bought my truck from them and I am very happy with the way they have treated me.
So I take it in to get my oil changed and have them take a look at the temp gauge and my brakes. Well the guy I talked to was very cool. He ended up calling me later in the day saying they fixed all problems except they havent finished working on the brakes.
He said they got completely fried. Has this been a problem for anyone else? Either way, no big deal, everything is replaced for free.

What's your mileage?
I just passed 1500 and have had no problems. I fried the brakes on my '99 several times. I am going in Friday for my first oil change etc.
I have been watching the forums about the rear end shudder, slipping, vibrations, noises etc. Anything in particular I should ask them to look for?

Mileage = about 4100.
I told them that while I would brake on the freeway the truck would shake, especially shown when the steering wheel would shake.
The guy was really cool and called and said hes replacing everything because it was all baked.
I havent noticed any other shuttering or slipping though.

Are oil changes covered when you first buy your truck? I thought normal maintenance things like that were your own responsibility. I could easily do it myself, but if it's free I don't see why not have my online maintenance schedule show that it was done by a dealership in case I ever sell the truck, not to mention I don't have to spend 10 minutes in the cold.

Normal maintenance issues are up to the owner, but when your brakes are fried at 4100 miles it becomes a warranty issue.

The dealer I go to had one of those where they replaced the brakes multiple times as they were completely used with low mileage. One day one of the mechanics happened to be behind this car on the road. Brake lights never went off. Needless to say the next time the guy came in, no free brakes.
Well I bought Ford scheduled maintenance for 4 yr/50k mile so I get my oil changes from them and the rest of the inspections.
And no I didnt have my left foot on the brakes. But now that they are replaced its like a new truck!
