Researching to buy.. Please help

Hey folks I am looking at this new truck very seriously.

I'm gonna ask some general noob questions and would love any advise you can provide.

1. Is the 4x4 good? (in basis of comparision to other 4x4 Trucks)
2. Are there any after-market suspension lift kits available?
3. What are some realistic gas-mileage numbers from teh 4x2 and 4x4?
4. How long is the warranty on this beast? I heard some say 3, and some 4.
5. How much should I expect to pay for the nice Billet Grill on the front of the truck? (in in texas)
6. In general, are there any shortcomings/bad expierences with this truck I should know about? (Yes, I know all love the truck, but speak honestly to this please.)

I am considering either this or the Expedidtion. I cannot decide if the extra money is worth some the nice luxury the Exp offers.

Anyhow, if my response is good, I may some more questions.. Thanks again!!

1. My 4X4 has given no trouble whatsoever. It is a good 4X4.
2. There is a Daystar 2.5" front leveling kit and there are some new suspension lifts coming out soon if they arent out already.
3.My 4X4 around town is about 14mpg. Sorry no highway mileage yet.
4. 3/36 bumper to bumper. You can add more warranty, but it costs extra.
5. Depends on which one you want. Do some searches and find out where you can get the one you want for the least money.
6.I have had no problems with mine so far. Its the best truck Ive owned out of the three I have had.

I bought an 04 F150 XLT Scab Flareside 4X4 w/many options. My Dad bought an 04 Eddie Bauer Expedition, Both are great, you cant go wrong either way. Just depends on what your needs are. Good luck.

Hiya....Ill try to answer some of your questions but i've only had mine for alittle over a month......

1. The 4 wheel drive in my opinion is as good or better than most...i have been in 4 wheel alot since i got mine with all this snow and ice and have had no trouble at all.......My trade in for this truck was a Z-71 Silverado LT ext cab and the Ford seems to get around better than it did......

2. Yes.....there are aftermarket lifts for this truck....i have seen some on ebay for under 150.00.......

3. Cant really give any real milage data yet as i only have 600 miles on mine so far.....Im getting just 11 mpg now with all the snow and short trips to work and back......No long trips yet..

4. I have a 3/36k on the truck and the dealer i bought from has a free Lifetime powertrain warranty...you have to have all your service done by them at the recomended intravals but sounded like a great deal to me...(this was one of the reasons i purchased from them......)

5. Not sure on the billet grill..I love my factory grill on mine and just bought a bumper grill insert (oval style like my grill) on ebay for 25.00......

6. Havent had mine long enough to find one thing i dont like.....The truck is absolutely the best ive ever owned so far....my last truck was a Chevy and the one before that was a Dodge...Both were loaded 4x4 ext cab models and were good trucks...But in my opinion they dont compare to my new F-150 Supercrew....

Hope this helps im sure others will jump in and give ya some more opinions......

1) Yes, I drive through mud that's looking like chocolate pudding. My F-150 goes through the mess better than my Jeep does, especially if it gets icey. It's not meant for full-time use.

3) With my 4x4 at 1100 miles, I'm getting 13 mpg now on short trips. I'd guess maybe 10% of that is brief stints on the highway. The rest is in town on short trips and slogging through the mud.

6) I bought mine off the lot on 10/10/2003 and have only put a 1100 miles on it. So far I don't have any major complaints. There are minor things like the auto-locks not unlocking when the driver's side door is opened that are a little odd, but they're offset by the handling, ride and power. It's a heavy truck, but really doesn't drive like one. The ride is so much better than the '01 Expy I had and the mileage is comparable, even with the added weight and horsepower.

Thanks for the information. I have seen some concerns with the Expy, and am really impressed with the new powerplant the 150 has, so I think I am going to go wih the 150. However, I would still like to hear any additional comments from 04' 150 owners.

Thanks again,

Steven

1. It seems great to me. It's no solid axle like you'll find on a rock crawling beast, but it is as good as any 4x4 system on a fullsize truck. I used mine today in the snow and mud and it was a breeze. The electronic shift on the fly is seamless.

2. Yes, there are 4-6" lifts that run anywhere from $900-1600 and there are also spacers available to level out the front since the front sits lower than the back. The spacers run around $100 or so.

3. My 4x4 gets about 13 city, 17 hwy. I average about 15mpg.

4. As said above, 3/36 standard. I got 6 years/100k miles for about $1000 extra.

5. Billet grille will run $100-$200 from what I've seen. There are at least a dozen different styles from several companies available.

6. No bad experiences for me, but some people have had the usual problems that any vehicle line experiences. There are assorted problems with the truck, but I have not experienced any. This truck is a champ in my opinion.

The Expy is not a bad vehicle at all, it just depends what you will use it for. I love my F-150 and I would not give it up. The truck rides like a dream and if you get a Lariat, you will have most luxurious truck available. I love my Lariat. Have fun making your decision.

Well I have to be honest.. I am seeing a lot of good stuff on this Nissan Titan. Maybe a touchy subject here, but has anyone anything to mention regarding the Titan vs. F150?

The Titan is an ugly piece of crap?

How's that for feedback?

If you want the scoop on Titans go to a Nissan Titan forum. You'll find a lot more info there than here.

I bought my 04 F-150 because:

a) the new F-150 kicks *** in looks and performance.

b) Ford has a great history of building great full-size pickups, Nissan has a short history of building mediocre compact pickups.

Brew is right.

Trends come and go but eventually truck people gravitate back towards F-150's.

I had a Nissan before my F150 and it was a tough little truck. So I'm not a Nissan hater at all. Some people are afraid of buying a first model year like the 04. I would be much more afraid of buying a first attempt period like the Titan though. Plus it's so goddamed ugly.....

I'm serious, go to a Nissan forum and see what people say about them. If you don't mind your tailgate sticking closed, your dash catching fire, or getting squashed against the steering wheel by your power seat, I'm sure it's a great truck.

not to mention that once you get that tailgate unstuck, it weighs like 75lbs. maybe i'm spoiled with the tailgate assist on the 04 F-150, but I swear the tailgate on the Titan weighs a ton. It weighs more than an 03 F-150 tailgate.
