2004 Shop Manual ?'s

I am installing the Daystar kit and would like to know the torque specs on:

1. upper ball joint?
2. tie rod end?
3. the 3 bolts that hold the top of the strut assembly to the frame?
4. bottom of shock to lower control arm bolt?

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone with the manual could look these up for me!

Before you take this info as gospel, I think I'd wait until a few more individuals comfirm the numbers. But if I am reading the CD correctly, this is what I see:

Upper Ball Joint 85 lb-ft
tie rod 111 lb-ft
three bolts on top 35 lb-ft
shock to lower control arm 351 lb-ft ??????? either this is a huge bolt or the manual is wrong

Do those sound like they are in range with the size of threads you are working with?

Appreciate it fellas!
I can't hardly believe they want 351 ft/lbs on the lower shock bolt! I guess I'll see how hard it is to take off.

351 ft lbs?

Surely that has to be a typo.

You would think it was a typo, but the metric #'s are 451. I remember one guy saying when he installed his Daystar he had to use a break over bar on that nut. Not too many people have a torque wrench that goes that high. I guess I will just tighten it as tight as I can get it. Now I just hope those strut spring compressors they loan at Auto Zone will handle the spring.

Yowza. That is a boatload of torque.

I checked my "little" two foot long torque wrench (I've never come close to maxing it out) and, well not even close. It maxes out at 180 lbs ft.

Ya that just doesn't seem right. I'm going to see how hard it is to break loose and judge from that. It is using a lock nut also! I'm going to do it next weekend if it finally warms up some, plus I have President's Day off on Monday.

Does anyone know the torque spec for the "Upper Strut Isolator Mount Nut"?

I think that's the nut that holds the top plate to the shock.
