Question Ice in doors???

I have recently noticed a clunking sound inside both rear doors of my FX4 Scab. If you shake the open door back and forth you and hear what sounds like a chunk of something loose in the door. Sometimes it goes away but when you slam the door you can hear it fall down and clunk again. So yesterday I go to the passenger side and open the rear door and shake it. No clunking. I close the door and hear what sounds like a clunk drop to the bottom of the door. Shaking the door creates the clunking!!

Now I live in the arctic.....Wisconsin really........and it has been a bad winter......cold!!! I wash the truck alot in touchless washes and am thinking that there is possibly an ice buildup in the doors???

I checked the door bottoms and found no drain holes!!

Any thoughts on this issue. I would prefer to see what happens after I can get some temps above freezing before I have the doors taken apart.

Thanx

Greg

It is funny that you mention that, the first time that I heard it was yesterday when I was just playing around with the power windows while sitting in a parking lot waiting for my girlfriend to get out of the store and I heard what sounded like ice falling in the rear door.

I honestly thought I was hearing things or maybe it had fallen from the outside but I got out and saw nothing.

Sticking doorhandles

After handwashing my SCrew and letting it sit overnight all four doorhandles froze shut. With a little effort they popped open. Other than that no other cold related problems here in Flagstaff, AZ. Minus 1 today on the guage in the truck when I left the house at 7:00 this morning.

I found an ice problem on my Lariat at the bottom of the front doors. When the ice/snow melts of the roof /windshield area water runs down and sits between the front bottom of the door and front fender. If the door is opened all the way aganist the stop the door hits the ice.It is enough to bend the bottom of the door.I don't see a fix for this. Best to open the doors slow.

I have had the same problem with ice buildup on the inside of the front doors. I have found that washing my truck and removing the snow buildup on the running boards helps fix the problem. It gives me a reason to keep my truck clean. The only problem is that everytime I wash my truck we seem to get 3-4 inches of snow the next day. Should I stop washing my truck?

Hey guys, Take it to the dealer and ask them to remove the sound deadening material thats rolling around in your back doors. I too had the same sound. Clunking around as if something was in my back doors. Then sometimes it would go away. Almost sounded like there was a screwdriver left in there. So I took it to the dealer and told them what was going on. They took it right in and in 20 minutes my buddy who works on my truck came out with a handfull off the sound proofing material they use in the doors. It looked like a pile of broken shingles. Pretty weird.
So take it to the dealer and have them take the back door panels off and get that crap out of there before it drives you crazy.

Right after I got my truck, I rolled down one of the back windows in my scab, and there was a clunk like something falling inside the door. Tried it a few more times, and no clunk, so I figured I would wait and see. Another time one of the kids was in the back and rolled down the window and clunk again. I thought it was maybe the speaker or something.

Its been too cold to roll down the windows since then, but it sounds like this may be my problem too. Will have to mention it to the dealer.

Grege I live in Watertown and work in Menomonee Falls Wi. I have had somthing similar as far as ice. I kept hearing a sqeaky kinda rattle and found out that a chunk of ice was between the cab and the box. This was down low and would make noise somthing similar to what you stating you hear.

If you have ice in the dorrs find someone who has a gargae and thaw that truck out and then see if you hear the sound again.

Go Packers!!

You nailed it!!!!! Went in today and they found the exact same thing as you described..........THANX!!! That is what makes this list so valuable!!

PS Did your buddy tell you what those things were. Mine were all broken up but they looked like a plastic rectangle that was glued to the inside bottom of the outside door skin. They didn't seem to concerned about replacing them.
