Delay in starting?

All,

I read one post where someone experienced a slight delay in starting the engine when you turn the key. Is everyone experiencing this issue.

I just picked up an '04 150 and notice that there is a slight delay when starting the engine compared to my 2000 model.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Or, is this normal.

John

ps. I'm hearing that most 150's between 2000 and 2003 will experience piston slap issues. Mine did and they tried to offer me a 100k b to b warranty. Said no way and made them give me a good deal on an '04. My neighbors is starting to sound like a diesel. Word is if you have a 150 in this time period to get rid of it quick.

The delay is due to not having a direct connection between the key switch and the starter. In the 04 F150 the key is only used to send a request to the computer for a start. This slows down the start signal a little. Not to worry all 04 F150s do this.

Seems like, when I turn the key on and pause, I can hear what I have assumed to be a fuel pump come on pressurizing the fuel system. I was thinking the very short delay in starter motor activation after going all the way with the keyswitch to start was caused by this need to pressurize the fuel.
