Question Wiring third brake light in camper top?

I have just installed a camper top and I cannot locate a circuit in the rear of the truck that is dedicated to just the brake lights, meaning that it doesn't function as a turn signal as well. I know that my 96 f-250 had an extra pigtail connector behind the drivers taillight housing just for this purpose. Anyone know where this is located. How are folks hooking this up?

thanks

I dont have a 2004 but on the 00-03 models there is a wire coming out of the harness in back that spans between the two taillights under the truck. Ford had it(Brake wire tap in) pulled out and capped off already for this purpose. It may have been in the harness section that "T"d off for the trailer connector though I dont remember but its worth a shot......
I`ll post the link to a picture if I can find it so it may be worth a look...... Sorry for the offsite link!!!!!

Well it was worth a shot and sorry its not the same . I`m sure with all the people here on the boards someone has located something easy to tap into.
Good luck and hope its a easy solution. It would be nice to know anyways in case I trade for a 2004 model in the near future..

I have an 04 screw with trailer towing package… I could find no lead in the harnesses at the rear of the truck that was brake light only. The lead going to the high mounted brake light can be found in the wiring harness that is in the channel under the plastic diamond plate looking door seal on the passenger side of the truck. The high mounted brake light lead is the green wire. I ran a wire, which I enclosed in spiral wire loom for protection, through the boxed frame from the rear of the truck to a hole in the frame that line up with the rear door. I then ran the wire into channel using one of the stamped holes existing in the channel. Spliced into the high mounted brake lead resulting in having a brake light only lead for my use at the rear of the truck.

I did the exact same thing as screwdrive.
Leer has a small circuit (looks like a breaker) to combine the turnsignal/brake lights for specifically this application.
Check with your camper top shop to see if they can sell you that part. I'm not sure it's exactly what you need or not, but if prefer this type of install...it's an option.
