Issues with the 2004 F150
With every new body style, there are going to be some issues. You'll have more issues with a new model moreso than just a new body style. Most of the 'issues' I have seen posted here were issues with personal preference or the simple fact that somone was used to their old vehicle and liked some of the conveniences/**** locations/feel etc. of their older truck.
The main concerns are listed in this guys post. He simply wrote down what most people were complaining about and after a while, posted his remarks. These are the key issues...

Another good function on this forum is the search option up top. This place covers pretty much everything from tire sizes to ego sizes.
I say buy one! Today if you can!
Enjoy!!

Some guys have had some problems with theirs, though I'm not sure how high the percentage is. I've had mine for four months now and haven't had any problems at all. It seems like this new model was pretty well debugged before it hit the streets.

I haven't found any real issues sofar, I mean there are a few nit picking things that bother me but nothing major. The wiper blades stopping about 4 inches off of the drivers side of the windshield gets a little annoying but I saw that someone had bent the arm so that it would go further over...... haven't attempted this due to I would get pissed at myself if I messed it up, and I have the "rear window" vibration problem that I am still trying to find a solid solution for.
The truck other than these things is probably the best truck I have ever driven.

While I am sure Ford had to do some emission tuning, remember that the cousin of the 5.4L 3V Trition has been used for a year in Australia in various models including the funky Falcon Ute. For a first year release the drivetrain would be my primary concern. I think we are seeing some samples of drivetrain problems with some reports of shuddering at highway speeds. But, in my opinion this has been a VERY solid launch for Ford so far. Nothing like the poor Focus.
Here's a pic of the Aussie Falcon Ute
It comes as a flat bed too

I waited 3 months for the first Models to hit the ground to test drive one. I looked at the Dodge, Tundra and F150. The Dodge was nice, the Tundra was tight but smooth it also had ongoing brake issues. Compared to the 2003 F 150 I was leaning towards the Dodge... But after seeing the 2004 F 150 on the Ford website and waited for the first in my area for 3 months to see it up close and test it. After I tried it I was glad I waited... I ordered the one I wanted and waited 8 weeks... seemed it was never coming. After getting possession and driving it all has been well so far. 2000 miles so far.. no problems. Very Very pleased Greg

I considered the Dodge 1500 before buying my F150 XLT 4.6 S. Cab.
The Dodge 's drive was simular to the ride, and noise of the 2001 XLT S. Cab i was turning in.
Although i think the Dodge is a good truck, the Ford just seemed tighter, and quieter than the 1500.
As far as the Titan, i don't care whats written about it, i just can't get into a large Jap. truck, and the tail gate looks awful.
Ive got 1000 miles on my XLT and have experianced no problems yet.
