Thanks for the picture. It really shows a big difference in brightness!

i recommend this kit, which is what i have:

keep in mind this is a retrofit and you need to use a dremel and go at your stock housing. its not very hard but if you mess up get reasy to buy a new housing. very nice light. its bright and colorful. you could go with a 6000k or 7100k bulb but this is mostly color and sacrifice light.

What could potentially happen if I put the silverstars in my fog lights. I really want to upgrade but don't want to risk something melting or catching on fire or whetever overloading wires does.

lanceparkhurst,

Do the 9005's have the same plug as the 9145's? Just wanted to make sure it's a simple swap and no splicing has to be done. I looked in Wally World today for them, but they only had 9006's and 9007's.

They are the same electrical plug but the tabs that hold the bulb in are just a hair different. Two tabs will fit in then turn the bulb just a little bit and the third tab will go into the housing then turn the rest of the way till tight and plug back in. Hope that will help ya.

Thanks. I just ordered a set direct from Sylvania. None of the stores around here carry the 9005 SS. Wally World carries 9004, 9006 and 9007 for some reason. They've got G.E. Blue bulbs in 9005.

I guess the H13 (9008) SilverStar Headlamp bulbs will not be available for the '04 F-150. I got this e-mail from Sylvania today.

Hi Michael,

The H13 (9008) will not be available in the SilverStar option. The National Highway Traffic Safety Board has specified that this particular lamp cannot be coated; therefore it cannot be offered in the SilverStar upgrade.

thanks,
Trish

Don,t feel too bad that the Silver Star lamps are not availabe.
I put them in my Infinity G35. My trusty old General Electric light meter said the light output was the same as original. The light was nice and white and they seemed brighter to the eye. I would buy them again.

In response to one of my questions, the person responding to me from Sylvania said that the life expectancy of the Silver Stars was much shorter than their normal halogens. I was told one could expect a life of about one year. I assume this would be totally contingent on how much night driving you do.

Yes, and they don't hold up to abuse as well as regular bulbs, either. I have them (and I love them, by the way), and I have had to replace my fog light twice, because I sling quite a bit of mud and muddy water onto the back of the fog light assembly, and the stockers lasted for 2 years, the stocker replacements lasted for two years, and I have had 2 sets of Silver Stars in the last year. They are excellent headlights, though, they really improved my visibility at night.
