Just a plug for America
Just a plug for America
I haven't bought a new Ford truck in 19 years. I have been very fortunate to have had very good luck with the Ford vehicles I have bought.
I have only had 2 warranty services. One was the ignition module had to be replaced on my 1985 XLT Lariat and the CD player had to be replaced on my new 2004 STX.
I have been reading Ford related message boards since their beginnings and don't recall as many enthusiastic buyers of a new Ford vehicle as those of the new 2004 F150 trucks.
For the most part it has been very inspiring to see as many Americans satisfied with an American made product.
Please don't come back with the fact that there may be foreign made parts on our truck.
We have become so spoiled here in America that our own greed and lifestyles have caused most of our problems. Therefore, I just wanted to say, thanks to those that still are buying American vehicles.
For example, the new Titan truck may be a very nice truck and may have features and performance better than that of a Ford truck. If we could be satisfied with the purchase of a really nice Ford F150 there wouldn't be as many foreign manufacturers in America for us to complain about.

You could be right but do not forget the overall automotive industry is much more compatitive then it was 10-20 years ago and i believe the truck division is the last american stronghold. So you guys at least better try to keep that

The Ford is the best looking, toughest truck on the road. I have only seen 1 Titan on the road and probably 50 F-150's this year. I saw the first reg.cab '04 F-150 on the highway in Atlanta yesterday. Was a silver FX4 and looked great. At first I thought it was a S/C it was so damn big.
I've taken tours through both American and foreign made automobile assembly plants. It's very easy to see the reasons for the differences, not only in some quality issues but also in the general attitude of the workers which is reflected in their work.
I'm not defending the foreign car industry. I wish there weren't any foreign vehicle on our roads. But, that's not a reasonable expectation.
As most of you know. If it wasn't for the competition of the foreign car makers we know reasonably well what condition our own domestic cars and trucks would run and look like. Even though I love the nostalgia of the muscle cars and the ease of maintenance, they don't compare to modern technology.
I'll give you a simple example. Most of you may not notice these sort of things but for those of you that have a new '04 with yellow, red or any other brighter colored paint. Sit in your driver seat and look toward the passenger side and notice the poor fit of the plastic panels and how much painted surfaces are exposed that should be covered. Look closely and compare the quality of the overall paint job.
I realize a lot of people don't care about this kind of issue but, it's only a comparison to what you will see in a similarly priced foreign vehicle.
As Forrest Gump would say, "That's all I've got to say about that".
