actual running bars for FX4

Unfortunately my truck didn't come with bars, so I went to my dealer to order a set of the actual chrome /aluminum bars. I couldn't believe it....Allmost $800.00 for the set. They said that they are not sold in an actual kit so they are more expensive. WOW!!! Can you believe that...$400.00 a side. WHEW!!!!!

That is total BS. Do not buy them. There are aftermarket ones that are just as nice and cost half as much.

I've been searching for these also and was wondering if anyone had any info on which brand to get. I found some that were listed at about 200-something dollars but cannot find the site again (it was an ad on the right side of this site yesterday.) Are all of the "Quality" ones at least 300+ dollars. I am looking for Stainless steel.

bradiniowa,

I purchased a set of the bright polished step board for my 2002 supercrew for right at 300.00 for both sides from my dealer.

I also ordered a set of black step boards for my 04 (which will be painted to match) and they were right around 270.00.

Believe me they are not 800.00

Westin Platinum CPS You can get the standard or tube style, and regular length or wheel to wheel.

Have 'em. Love 'em. Should find for $400 installed.

I would have to agree, they are trying to rip you off, try another dealership or go aftermarket.

I believe they don't put them on the FX4 as it's intended to go off-road. Bars will get hung up or damaged if you do any "serious" off-roading. Something to keep in mind...

The ones that actually come on the FX4 are a strait bar with black plastic on both ends....... all of the after market ones seem to make a 90 degree bend on both endsand go up under the side of the cab a touch. The reason they explained to me that they are so expensive is because they are only offered as an extra when you purchase. So if you buy them through the parts dept. at this time, they are not offered as a "kit". I'd love to keep my truck with original equipmet on it, but for half the price why would you when they look just as nice for aftermarket? I did notice that they are listed on the sticker price on the windows of the ones that have them at the dealer, they are $350.00 extra......woulda, coulda, shoulda...

My buddy landed highcenter in his Tahoe. It taco'd his bars, but his body and frame were straight.
