Air Intakes

I have been trying to find out more information on Air intakes for the 5.4 liter 3 valve motor. I had heard that problems were being found with some units. I now have heard back from Air Force One and they indicated it will be awhile before they release a unit for the 5.4 motor, Quote from Air Force One: "Due to Ford no longer using the MAS on the 5.4 3-valve, getting the air to flow correctly onto their new sensor is creating a problem with the vehicle running "too lean". This is a problem that is almost solved, but has definitely delayed the release of the 5.4L kit." I had heard sometime ago some engines had been damaged by incorrect air flow from "Non Stock Air Intakes". Has anyone on the site experienced problems? I have read about a few "AIRAID" units being installed on this site, any problems been found with the engines on these?

When I ordered my exhaust from Troyer (Magnaflow 15821)
on the 22nd of this month, I also was going to get the Airforce 1
intake. I was lucky enough to talk to Mike and he stated that he did not want to sell me the Airforce 1 fro the reasons you posted above. He stated that he was going to take this off his web site
and that when they get it right he would let me know. I also belive that he stated that the cost would be more than before because of the problems and the extra R&D that is taking place.

It was listed at 259.95 part # 16418 on Troyer's web site
so it should be interesting to see what the price goes up to.
I already thought the price was to high but had the green light from wife and decided that since that dosent happen to often
i would get it anyway. Now I am waiting to see if they get it right
and think I will wait just a little longer and see from people who have it installed on there trucks to make sure it wont puff the engine.

That's a little scary. Where did you hear about people damaging their engines?

intakes

I had a K&N intake on my 99 Scab and after about 20,000 miles with it, I removed it to clean it and found dirt on the intake pipe behind the filter. I put a Volant on my 03 Expedition and it runs great. Volant is a week or two from having theirs out for the 04 F150 5.4.
