bumper repair ??s
Well, first boo-boo this weekend. I was backed into by somebody at the athletic club. Needless to say they took off without any note or insurance info. All the damage was to the front bumper so I'm figuring on doing it myself. All I need is a bumper for the XLT (the chrome w/fog lamps), no brackets or nothing thankfully.
I have worked on many vehicles in the past but never anything this new, so I have no idea how go about coming up with the bumper (no aftermarket). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
~thx

Big Ody,
I'm sorry to hear about that. For replacement parts you might want to look at:
http://www.fordpartsnetwork.com/
OR
https://www.1stfordparts.com/partscat.html
I know several site members who have ordered from Ford Parts Network and recommend them. Last Thursday I ordered a replacement Ford Grill (replacing my Lariat Grill with an XLT Grill) from Ford Parts Network..it arrived today via FedEx. I've never used 1st Ford Parts...but their prices look really good.
Let us know where you end up getting the parts and how the repairs go.

Thanks a Million John!
Both of these sites as well as a third I found (ford, Lincoln, Mercury parts and accessories) all seem to be using the same database. 1stford had the cheapest at $264.88 and Ford Parts Network was the most expensive right at $300.
I got several quotes from local repair shops. The prices ranged from $657.99 to $755.99. They were trying to charge me 2 hours labor and an additional 30 minutes labor because it had foglamps.
Thanks again John

Just make sure you're getting original equipment. I had an insurance repair on my '97 when someone backed into my front bumper and a year later the thing was covered with rust. They had replaced it with an overseas replacement.
You don't have your location posted, but if you are near a big city you need to check for bumper refinishers.
I used to restore musclecars on the side, and that was all I used. They can repair alot of common damage and then replate the bumper.
We have a well known shop here in town called Denver Bumper Works and the bumpers I've had refinished looked at least as good as the factory units - and much cheaper than a factory unit.
Just a thought...
