Question Is It Just Me Or Is It Ford?

I have had a 2004 Lariat Screw for only about 2 weeks now and I have noticed that when I make a turn and accelerate in the turn it feels as though the bed is fish tailing a little. I hope I am describing this right. I make a turn from a stopped position (i.e. traffic light, stop sign) and I usually hit the gas and start accelerating up to speed just before I staightened up and it feels like the bed is sliding over to the next lane and then it catches itself and straightens up. Has anyone else noticed this or am I letting my imagination get the best of me. I must confess I used to intentionly try to do this with my old 2001 Expedition but I could only do it after I washed it and the tires got wet. But my truck seems to do it all the time and I know I am not peeling off that fast, and I don't hear any tire spinning (i.e. burning rubber) when I take off. Can anyone comment on this, thanks.

Need a l i i i i i i i ttle more info...

Do you have 4X4?
Limited slip?
Long bed?
Tailgate down or up?
Only on right turns, left turns, or both?

The obvious question would be 'are the streets wet?', but I am sure you could have figured that out on your own. Let me know and I'll give you a few answers as to what I have seen.

I have a 4x2, 3.55 LS, with a short bed 5.5. This happens on all turns right or left, I have managed to keep my tailgate up all the time as nothing I have hauled has been longer than the bed and I always keep my tailgate locked so noone will steal my bed extender. What have you found out?

Do a search on this forum for "shudder".

There are alot of threads on the various ways the clutch packs on the 3.73 limited slip "feel" when they are bad. Mine feels sort of like the rear tires are spinning and then gripping sometimes, and other times like the bed is shifting ever so slightly from side to side.

That being said - Ford has an updated replacement clutch pack, and more than a few guys here have or are going to have Ford replace them. I am on that list in the next couple of weeks.

ironhousein2002 -- no, you're not letting your imagination get the best of you. Same thing happens in mine. I have 04 Lariat 4x4 Scab 5.4l limited slip. Have you hit a bump driving at highway speeds? If not, hang on with both hands, it's pretty scary.

I haven't noticed that in mine at all. L/S 5.4 SCAB Lariat, I've had it on some very rough roads, potholes, off road in fields, etc. Always seems to track straight and recovers from slides on snow or on dry pavement no problem. I do drive it a little harder than most guys.
