Question Why no SCrew and 6.5 bed?!?!?!?

I know that trucks these days seems to be purchased by people for "image" as much utility anymore, but...

I would like to know why Ford doesn't make an F-150 (XLT) SuperCrew with the 6.5 bed?!?!

I am in the market for new F150, and would like to have the 4 doors for carrying passengers more comfortably, but I also would like to a larger truck bed b/c I actually USE my truck to haul stuff!! I have a toolbox on the back of my current truck and use the heck out of it, so I want one on my next truck.

The SuperCrew bed is 5.5 feet – wtf?!?! Add a toolbox on the back which is, say, 1.5 feet deep, that leaves me with basically 3 FEET OF BED SPACE?!?!?! Hardly a "truck" anymore...

So, if I stick with Ford and want a "usable bed", I have to stick with the Extended Cab at best.

Tundra 4-door is lookin good. Large bed and they seem to run well. Smaller truck, though, I think...
Dodge has what I'm lookin for?

Longtime Ford customer may be lookin elsewhere...

This is his way of justifying to us why he is going elsewhere for a truck. That's ok though. He'll be sad when on of us pulls up next to him in our F-150s.

"Hey, is that a Hemi?"
"Yeah."
"Ha, ha, ha. Do you think he noticed the light changed?"

Whoa - tough crowd!
Startin to sound like "truck guys"!

Not "griping" about the F150's, more so the yuppies that determine sales thus determining what trucks are made! Errrrr

And BTW, I got 150,000 miles of F150 sittin in the driveway, and wife's got a an 04 Expy, so don't think I'm bashin Ford...

My question is WHY does Ford NOT make an SCrew, 6.5 bed? Is there a REASON?? Anyone hear of any future talk of Ford making a "standard size bed" on the SCrew??

Sorry, but to me, a CREW CAB used to mean a truck that could carry a "work crew" to and fro the jobsite, with the longer bed filled with tools.

Somewhere along the line, crew has become the wife and kids headin up to Home Depot to buy a new plant.
"Let's take the truck honey, we got some haulin to do...".

Just messin guys....

Thanks TUFF FORD, maybe the 250 is what I need to look at.

Just always been an F150 guy. Plus, concerned about fuel economy with the miles I cover and towing I do.

Hmmmmmmm

Dang normikg, when I said I wanted more bed space, I didn't mean a queen-size bed in the cab!

The difference is one foot, not six inches. And it does make a difference. I can lay an 8' board corner-to-corner in my 6.5' bed underneath the bed cover. You can't do that with the 5.5' bed.

Hey i'm not trying to start a fight here guys...I'm just trying to be objective.

Toyota Double Cab Bed length = 74.3" = 6.19 feet (not 6.5ft)

http://www.toyota.com/toyota/vehicle.../ebrochure.jsp

Ford 5.5 ft bed = 67.3' = 5.6 feet

http://www.fordvehicles.com/Trucks/f...pecdimensions/

A grand total difference of........7 Inches!

I'll admit I was underestimating the difference by 1 inch, but in my defense Toytoa advertises on thier site that the tundra was "6 inches longer then the F150 box"

IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT FUEL ECONOMY WHY MENTION DODGE!
DODGE SACRIFICES THE CREW CAB INTERIOR SPACE TO GIVE YOU THE BIGGER BED (more room to carry extra gas i guess)

Suuuure, IzInBloOm. Sayin I need a minivan be fightin words!

My point is that the 7 inches does make a huge diff. If I can't even throw an 8ft 2x4 in the bed of my truck without it sticking up and sliding around.... geez!

I have a 6 foot box now, and its not bad, but I think a 6.5 foot bed would juuuust right.

IzInBloOm, your 8 foot bed is NICE for real haulin, but just too much wheel base for me when parking, etc. I just like the 4 doors for in/out access and slightly more leg room.
