Unhappy Please Help Me!!!

I'VE HAD MY 2004 F150 FOR LESS THAN A WEEK. THE ODOMETER READS 502 MILES. I STARTED MY TRUCK AND IT SPUTTERED WHEN I HIT THE ACCELERATOR. IT STALLED WHEN I PUSHED THE PEDAL HARDER. IT IS NEAR EMPTY AND THE WEATHER IS AROUND 10 DEGREES F. IS THERE A CONNECTION? CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME IF THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN ON THEIR NEW VEHICLE. I'M STRESSING BECAUSE i JUST DROPPED OVER 35K FOR THIS TRUCK. HELP ME OUT, PLEASE.

I think that it was because you had such little gas in the tank and the temp. Go fill'er up and put in a gas stabilizer and i bet it will be all good

By near empty do you mean the gas tank? Fill the truck up and throw some De-Icer in the tank run through a tank.

Re: Please Help Me!!!

If you're saying that the gas tank is near empty, there's a definite connection. If you let your fuel tank get that low, the odds of the fuel freezing is almost a guaranteed yes! Rule number one of owning a vehicle in cold states is to ALWAYS keep it above half tank AT LEAST! If not, you risk your truck not running, like what happened to you, or even worse your fuel lines freezing and then it can be game over from there. Your sputtering was most likely whatever liquid fuel was left, and when you matted it, there was just no more left; all gascycle! Trust me, keep it above half and your problems will vanish.

If it's near empty on gas, I'd say you just might have some condensation in your tank (water) and that water may have been sucked up for delivery to the engine...or maybe it's just REALLY low and you just need gas. Either way, you should never run any vehicle super low on gas if at all possible. There's too many chances of sucking up water or any other gunk that may be in the tank (besides gas). I would guess that if you fill it up, you'll have no trouble. Of course if it continues, check it out further.

About an 1/8 of a tank near empty...

...about 1/8 before it's empty. engine sounds smooth and it started right back up without incident. I just don't want to overreact and rush it into the dealership. My service department doesn't know their **** from their elbows.

it a very good idea to get fuel as soon as possible when the multi-function readout indicates low fuel

Down to a 1/4 of a tank is as low as I every allow the fuel level to get.

I also use injector cleaner every few thousand miles.

You know, if you keep running your truck on less than 1/8 tank, you're gonna burn up your fuel pump since you're just sucking up air and not fuel...just letting you know
