John B. of Elverson: Retrax question...
sorry if you feel like i called you out--i saw your unbleivebale pics of your gorgeous truck and wanted to ask you about that cover!
it looks beautiful too and i beleive it was a "Retrax"?
sorry iam knew to the truck world, but 1) is it weather proof/water proof 2) how much do they run? 3) is it electronic? (may be a very dumb question--just wondering how it retracts or retrax
)
thanks...again sorry for using your name but you posted it in your gallery so i figured it was ok

1. not 100% but close 2. ? 3. No
another question, does the Retrax keep the tailgate closed/locked as well? Or do you have the lock the tailgate seperately along with shutting and locking the Retrax so that no one can get into your bed?

Retrax questions
I'll try to answer as completely as I can:
1) is it weather proof/water proof? Like SteveV said, Retrax doesn't claim to be 100% weather/water proof, but it's better than I expected. The seals are very good on all sides. I think that if you have a drop in bedliner, the seal along the front bedrail might not be as good. As I explained in a couple of other threads, water sometimes rolls off the cover at the corners near the tailgate when it's wet and you open it. Also, the recessed handle/lock are tends to accumulate water. You can buy a rubber handle cover from Retrax for that - I'm waiting for one. The drain tubes in the canister work fine. You want to clear all ice off the top of it before opening the cover so it doesn't get jammed into the canister.
2) how much do they run? They're not cheap. I ordered mine direct from the manufacturer. The cost was $889 + $48 shipping. If you search for "Retrax" you'll find where other site members have purchased through another member here for a little less than that I believe.
[i]3) is it electronic? (may be a very dumb question--just wondering how it retracts or retrax[i] Not electronic, but it opens easily with one hand. I think they have a little video clip on the Retrax website that shows someone opening/closing one.
4)does the Retrax keep the tailgate closed/locked as well No. The retrax handle/lock clamps onto the side rail. For security, you need to lock the retrax and your tailgate. The tailgate can be opened and closed with the Retrax cover in the full closed position. There is a pic of the handle/lock mechanism in my gallery.
If anyone has any other questions, just ask or send me an e-mail. Here is the Retrax website: http://www.rolltopcover.com/

Do a search on this site, I got mine from a fellow member & the retrax, tailgate seal & lock cover came to $847 shipped to my home.
I have a drop in liner in our truck, it seems to allow a little bit of water at the cab side of the bed. I think I'll need to use the weather stripping that they send with it for there. It looked like the liner would seal it good enough there, but not quite. The seal is for the truck that does not have a liner installed.
Still very happy with our Retrax.
