caps Leer or ARE

Hi Folks

I thought I had my mind made up on what type of truck cap to get . The Leer XL has a nice style to it ,looks fairly well made and is not a bad price.
But then I came across a ARE dealer, he showed me there z series it looks great too, it also appears to be put together well

What do you think ?

I looked at both also, but after reading comments on this board as well as going to the ARE web site, I decided on the Leer XL100. Everything that I have seen on the ARE says that it either isn't available (including their website), or people have ordered them and haven't received them yet.

I will be going with the a.r.e. for mine, I have had them on my 98 and 02 lariats and loved them.

I always liked how the a.r.e. covered the black plastic trim on the top of the bed and how its contours matched the hood.

My last two trucks I had Glasstite caps.www.glasstite.com They are a little pricey. But, if you want high end top quality then Glasstite is the way to go.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck,
Ron

I don't own one but I've seen them around, and I had one on my old truck years ago. I think they are the best looking by far. They come with a good warranty on the paint, and the price is right. The latches on some of the other brands are better/easier to use, but I just think the flat tops look better regardless.

Seeing that your' a fellow Canuk, I would go for a Leer (they just dropped their Canadian prices due to the $$). I looked at Raiders,Century, A.R.E., Leer and Hawk's. Personally, i like the look 100XQ; but does'nt do nothing for my dog (ventilation). Shop around and get quotes, then see the Leer dealer in London and see if he'll cut you a deal.(p.s. he takes cash and cheque only)

I don't know what you mean. The 100QX side windows tilt out and you can get it with a combo slider/drop down front window.

I'm expecting mine in any day now.

About the ventilation, I should of stated, when not going down the road; sure, the front window slides and flips down, but the pop out windows only open a few inches. I was just thinking, stopped in a restaurant in 70-80 degree weather having a lunch, it would get kinda warm and stuffy. Mind you, I'll prob'lly put the dog in the truck, with the A/C running regardless of which cap/cover.
