Sales tax 33k*.05=$1650
Excise tax 33k*.025=$825
Registration fee =$25

Total rip off=$2500 bucks and just because i can afford a nice new truck granted excise goes down every year and i dont have to pay sales tax after the initial first time but its still a rip off. Second registration will probably be like around 600-700 bucks and will drop slowly for the next few years.
I've never heard of Excise Tax on vehicles...we don't have that up here. Are you saying that Annually you pay a tax on the value of your vehicle?? Are your Insurance costs over and above this amount?? (I'm guessing it is, but just wanted to clarify) Wow....It looks like it costs a bundle to drive a vehicle in some States. I pay an annual registration fee of $68 for my plate. Insurance of course is extra. My total annual costs run less than $900CDN....It looks like yours are way higher....No wonder you're upset!

Its an annual Personal Property tax.
It is one of the reasons that Conan The Barbarian is now the Governor of California.

Davis (the former governor) raised the personal property tax by 300 percent overnight.

Actually from what I see I dont have it to bad at all...
I could care less what any individual tax is in a given state. What matter to me is the overall tax burden.

Wisconsin has traditionally been in the top 3 or 4 states for highest overall taxes so we have it very bad indeed.

We also have an excise tax here in Indiana. A few years back, the state decided to cut it in half on vehicles. I would have paid around $800 the first year for plates. It should be around $400-500 with the cut.

It does go down, by a small amount mind you, each year.

I agree with you as far as Taxes over all. I was simple stating that as far as registration fees go we have it good compared to states like CA.

I agree with you as far as taxes go, I was refering to the registration fees we have to pay to register or vehicles. Compared to somt states CA for example we have it preety good.

Wow! See here in NJ, we take it up the pooper with insurance rates. Registering the vehicle is only about $70 per year.

Funny you should say that. Two and a half years ago, I did lightly hit someone from behind. It really wasn't my fault, but I was behind him, so somehow it was automatically my fault. It was the only accident I have ever been in, in 10 years. My insurance company only had to pay out $400 to me to fix my vehicle. And some to the guy whose dumpy car I hit. But they felt the need to yank up my rates because of it. I expected some hike, but not as much as they stuck me for. Before that, I was paying about $980 a year. Now it's like $1,400. I should have never called the insurance company. I'm paying more than the repairs for both cars were. And I have a feeling that guy never got his car fixed. I'd better get my "Accident Free" status back after the three years is up. Don't get me started on this.

Your rate s are not that bad then no accidents and before they find out I got my first speeding ticket in 18 years my insurance
is 1200 a year just for the truck. That is with the multible discount and having my house insured throught them as well. I cant wait to see what they do when they see I got a speeding ticket

Plates

When my Truck comes in I will be up- grading my plate to
CLASS 2 weight class which in Pennsylvania is considered
1 ton. I will be transfering my plate from my 2000 F- 150 RC
Will cost probably $150. Annual registration renewal which is
required in Pennsylvania will cost me $81.00 per year.

Just another note on TAXES, I lived in England for some time and wondered why noone had screens on the windows in there homes. I found out that for each window screen they had to pay a tax, now thats some serious bullsh.t

Interesting how the different states charge for these things. I did not see Texas so here is the deal here. 6.25% sales tax on the new vehicle - applies only to balance after trade. Title is $25.00 and license for a F150 type truck is bit under $70.00 per year. Dealers charge what they can get away with for documentation fees but good ones charge in the $25.00 to $50.00 range.

No state income tax in Teaxs and sales tax varies from city to city but is generally in the 7.5% to 8.5%.

However, property and school taxes on your home and land hurts a bit - about $24.00 per $1000.00 valuation where I hang my hat. Much less in the country.
