Reason for your order?
I've been reading these boards for a while now.
I'm ready to buy finaly and my dealer can't find what I want. I'm looking for A
FX4 Screw in Oxford white
Deluxe Mirror
Tow package
3.73 limited slip rear
Flint Leather Captain's chairs
Audiophile
Moonroof
Power rear window
Reverse sensing.
Everything my dealer finds has everything except the moonroof, reverse sensing or audiophile. You atleast think there would be one truck that was fully loaded.
I'm now trying to decide if I want to go without the audiophile or order. If I order I can save a couple of houndred dollars by eliminating the bed extender, running boards, and adjustable pedals, but will have to wait a while before it comes in. I don't know if I can handle the wait time some of you have been waiting.

You are spending a lot of money. Order exactly what you want. Don't let the dealer talk you into anything. If you have to wait 8 weeks, it's worth it since you'll be driving it for the next 8 years or so. And if there's an option you want, and you have the means, spend the extra couple hundred for it. Don't cheapen out. You'll be much happier you did, instead of saying, "Why didn't I?" the rest of your ownership years.
Worth The Wait
I agree. Get exactly what you want and don't want on the truck. I took from the dealer inventory every time I went to buy a new truck, even though they didn't have what I wanted. This time I said ... no more ... I'm getting what I WANT, not what the dealer wants to sell me. It's well worth the wait.
I agree also.
I ordered my current truck ('93 Ranger) and got all the options except the upgraded stereo. I thought I didn't need/want it, but for the last 11 years, I've regretted not getting it. I thought at the time I would just put an aftermarket unit in but I never got around to it.
Don't skip an option (if you can afford it) because you might regret it later (like me).
Good luck!

unless my dealer finds me the truck I want today, I'm going to order one. I'm just really suprised that with all the trucks out on the lots, there is not one that is at least fully loaded in the colors I want. I am also surprised that with all the positive notes on the audiophile, that would be the option found least on all the searches I've done.
If you were around Chicago i could show you a lot of loaded trucks with moonroof. The reason i ordered my Lariat was i could not find one without moonroof.(I hate moonroofs).
Dont settle. Get what you want.

You don't have your location listed, but if you are in or close to a sizeable city you might want to check with a few reputable auto brokers.
We have a couple here in town. One is HM Brown and the other is Automotive Avenues. Generally they WILL find you what you want. My wife and I used them a few years back when she wanted a Toyota 4Runner with certain equipment. The truck ended up coming from Phoenix and it only took three days.

you could also try another dealer. around here if i was buying a truck i could definitely find the one exactly the way i want it. there is well over a dozen large dealers within 50 miles of my house and many more just in surrounding cities.

if you can wait (ie, your current vehicle is not breaking down), it is worth ordering.
blitzkrieg,
Thanks for the idea. I would say 30 miles north of Dallas would be sizeable. I did just add that to my info.
TXCoUnTrYbOy,
I don't know where your located, but I know dealers can search all the US for a truck with perticular options. I'm having faith that my dealer is cable to do it correctly. He treated me and my wife really well last year on her explorer.

Check out Town East Ford (Tom Hollett, internet sales mgr.) or try giving Mark Murrey @ Murrey Motor Company a call (972-226-0999) down in Wills Point. Mark typically sells his vehicles for a set amount over invoice and will locate whatever you want. Great guy to work with and one of the best buying experiences I've ever had (Tom Hollet was good, too). I bought my old '97 from him over the phone. Told him what I wanted, he located it, tinted the windows & sprayed the bed liner. I drove down, signed the papers and was gone in less than 30 minutes at the dealer. .
As for getting exactly what you want, I've only done that once (thankfully what I wanted wasn't fully loaded). For us there's always what we want and what we're willing to spend, so what we buy is almost always a compromise in between.
