Ash Tray

Its been really cold here and my Ash Tray freezes up anyone else that can,t get their ash tray open .

No better way to **** of a owner than to take away his asktray :P
and its my only complaint with the truck minor eh

Seems like on the left bottom side of the ash tray there are two sprockets large on on the actual tray about inch in diameter and another smaller one in the dash this is what controls the push and release /popout of the tray

has anyone had theirs out / apart

Some other threads have reported rattles in the ashtray, which in my case would be the .45 derringer I carry there (by permit). I sure hope my ashtray doesn't freeze up when the 'bad guy' comes along.

Ashtray?

So that is what it is....... You mean the convenient little change holder in front of the flow through console? lol..... Havent had mine freeze up yet, then again its only gotten down to 6ºF this winter here. And yes I know that there is a change holder in the console.... I just feel that its easier to access the "ashtray"

Quit smoking. Then you won't need to open it.

Maybe he doesn't want to quit.

And even if he did quit and wanted to put something else in there, it still freezes.

How about a useful solution?

Took mine apart last night because I threw a stereo in and dropped the mounting screw.

The ashtry is plastic-on-plastic and needs to be greased. try taking it out carefully and spraying some grease on it might work?

Question

I know this is an old post.

I wanted to open/ remove the ashtray to retrieve a reciept that fell behind there.

It interferes with closing it, and is noisy.

Any ideas? Links to a previous post?

Thanks in advance.

You will need to remove the bezel around the radio. To do this, open the ashtray, gently pulling up the bezel from the bottom, working your way up around the radio, both sides. There are clips holding it on. Then you will see two 9/32 hex head screws, that holds the ashtray assembly in. Remove them, and lift up and out the entire ashtray assembly. Then you can grease the two end pieces.
