Question Screw FX4 or Lariat?

What influenced owners of either one to choose one over the other?
Does anyone know the overall width including the wing mirrors?

lariat

I chose the lariat over the fx4 only because I liked the little bit fancier layout over the more tougher look I like the woodgrain effects. and the white face gauges, the message center,& electronic temp control, but I like all the toys

as far as the width I don't know I just have the overall width of 78.9 sorry

hope this helped? sheryl

I went with Lariat

For a couple of reasons I suppose.
(1) as above, I like the 'toys'

(2) I didn't want the 4x4, so I don't think the FX package was even a consideration.

I suppose it depends on how you plan to use the rig.

FX4 Like: Gray two-tone, gauge setup, black cloth seat option, standard skid plates, painted bumpers, grill, the 18" wheel style, rubber floormats.

Lariat Dislike: WOOD GRAIN ACCENTS, beige two-tone, leather seats only, exterior chrome, carpeted floor mats.

One of the reasons I did not go with the XLT is because the interior resembled my old Explorer. I needed a change. Didn't want to go another several years looking at the same basic thing. Plus when I got the options I wanted, it basically came to about the price of the standard FX4. And I wanted 18" wheels. Couldn't get those on the XLT.

FX4 / Lariat

I went with the FX4 since I didn't care for the Lariat's
limited choices inleather trim,
wood looked fake,
couldn't get it in grey
better looking interior (IMO)

Either is a fine choice !!!!!

I really wanted an FX4, but in all honesty, I have absolutely NO NEED for a 4X4 truck. The Lariat, while nice, doesn't come in the color I want and that's huge. I thought I liked white, but I sat in a white Lariat at the LA Auto Show and I figured I'd get pretty bored with white coming from a black truck. In this same sit down, I got totally turned off by the cheapness of the floor shifter. That really bummed me out.

Having said all that, I will end up going with and XLT and upgrading the wheels/tires, I'll put in a subwoofer and do some tinkering with the exhaust. I do admit I like the interior of the FX4 more than the XLT, but I cannot justify speding $4500 more for a black enterior and no captain's chairs with the added cost of a higher insurance premium.

The thing that sucks the most is I keep wondering to myself if I should take total advantage of A-Plan and just go big and not care about the needless luxury of the FX4. I'm confused.

truck of doom

I think you should do what you want. If you want to add all the stuff yourself and personalize it the way you want that is what truly makes it your truck. and nobody has one exactly like it!
