Audiophile ?

Has anyone replace the audiophile SUBWOOFER speaker in their box yet and if so with what and did you change the amp ? Also has anyone hocked up the audiophile sub. to a after-market radio and if so how ?

Havenīt done it yet but I would guess that all you would have to do is buy the aftermarket harness adapter to install the radio and that would incorporate the subwoofer. Since there are no separate controls for the sub adjustment I donīt see it as a problem. I havenīt done this yet but nissan type systems such as Bose are pretty similar to these with an amplifier on each individual speaker in the doors and it is a simple task to add an aftermarket radio. I am not sure that you will want to change out the factory sub in the box because it might require modifications to the box to make another fit due to the opening and the depth might also be a problem. If you decide to tackle it let us all know so that we can replace ours if we should have the urge in the future.

If you guys are going to replace the Audiophile radio and/or subwoofer, why did you pi$$ money away on it in the first place?

I agree with the Guigster. And while the stock sub is no JL Audio, it's pretty well matched to the existing equipment. I bet if you dropped a serious driver into that enclosure, you would be disappointed with the results.

I swapped out the rear 6x8's with some JL Audio XR570's which retail for about $400. I wish I hadn't bothered. The Audiophile head unit doesn't even put out enough wattage to wake up a real speaker. Those same JL's absolutely ripped in my last truck with a Precision Power 4 x 50 amp. I'm not impressed with how they sound powered by the stock system.

If I were you I would leave it alone, because it isn't half bad. Or, don't buy the Audiophile upgrade and build your own system.
