I was looking at my intrument panel while sitting in the truck yesterday. I am I the only one that is dissapointed that Ford did not make the 4 in FX4 on the intrumenst panel light up the same color as the needles or orther red markings on the cluster. The volt meter has a red low and high slash markings on the gauge.
Since to my knowledge the 4 has always been red on the outside of the truck, I think it would have been pretty cool to do this one as well. And probaly would not have changed the cost of making the gauges. Probably just a oversight.

 

do yhose little changes yourself. you will be very proud of yourself. and it will be one of a kind...... i do little things like this all the time to my bike....


plus, none of the other trim levels dashes do that, so it would ahve cost ford too much to do that....

 

I've got the column shifter on my FX4, so that's where the PRNDL goes. It seems that it may have cost too much to put that in instead of a plain logo plate for maybe half of the FX4's.

 

I may be mistaken, but I'm almost positive that the "FX4" in the dash is shown with a red "4" in the catalog! I, too, was a little disappointed when I got mine and it wasn't... but that's minor. I L-O-V-E my truck!

Hey, if the "4" not being red is all we have to complain about, Ford did okay.

 

You got that right, I love my 04 FX4..... it is GREAT!!!!

 

I also noticed that the brochure had a red "4" in the FX4 in the dash pics and that my truck has "FX4" all white. It doesn't really bother me though.

 

I don't have the floor shifter, so it doesn't affect me.

Sorry I wasn't thinking when I submitted the post, but SMCFX4 is correct it is the FX in red. But my statement still applies, but to the FX instead. Bumblebee I wasn't whining, but to me if a designer was doing the gauges, and decided to put the FX4 markings at the bottom it would only seem natural to do them with the red as that is the way the FX4 badges on the outside are from the factory. Easy to over look the small details I guess. But with other red influences on the gauges it sparked the idea in my head. Thought maybe a ford designer might of had a little more creativity.

They should of done the FX in red, and I would of liked to seen the "redline" on the tach red too like in that pic.
