Door problem
Door problem
When I got my 04 FX4 scab I noticed some black sealant at the top of the black center post on the right rear door (that would actuall be the front edge of the rear door). I looked as if they had put too much sealant on at the factory. I had planned on having the dealer remove it when my first service is done.
Yesterday my kid tried to open the right front door and it was stuck. Think it was probably ice ( It's very cold here) I pushed the door open. Well this sealant had somehow seeped on to the front door and had my 2 doors stuck together. When I pushed it open it bent the hell out of the black piller on the rear door and ripped a big chunk of paint off of the black rear piller of the front door.
I was pist. Has anyone else seen or heard of anything like this? I will post a pic later.
It hasn't been anything major yet but the little things are causing my blood pressure to rise. This is a $30k truck and I feel it should be perfect.

I hate it for you. That really is a heartbreaker.
You never found out what it was? Was it dry and hard like a clearcoat, or more of a slime? A lot of times while vehicles are in transport, a thin layer of protective 'slime' is applied to the exterior (sometimes you'll see new vehicles with white film being trailered down the highway, this is another option) to protect it from the elements while in transport. Some body shops will also use it to protect the sections of vehicles that are not being painted from overspray. Document the heck out of it with pictures. You have a valid claim with your auto insurer. Comprehensive claims like that shouldn't effect your premium or loss history. If your dealer won't do anything, that may be your only option...unless you want to pay out of pocket.
Let us know what happens.
Cheers to the C-bus

Yes
Right rear door
My daughter fell asleep one night on the way home. when she got out of the back she did not close the door all the way (the back cabdoor/ it was semi latched) the next day i opened the passenger side door and it pulled/bent the black covering on the back cab door. When the back cab door is not closed tightly the doors make contact ( I recreated this scenario ) So I went on the driver side to see if this same thing could happen (NO ) They still have about 1/8 in, gap
Took it to the dealer and they orderd the black covering for the right side back cab door . I told them that these doors should not be able to touch even if the back door is not cosed tightly ,they don't on the driver side? He tookit back to the body shop and they said they will ajust the doors when they fix the black covering. ( I used some double sided emblem tape to fix it for now! it 's not that noticeable unless you know it's bent). it also

They said they would fix that too.

That sounds like what I have. Unfortunately there was some black gunk on the back door seal and when my kid opened the door they were more or less glued together. bent the black piece and chipped the paint on the front door.
I have an appt. weds whith dealer body shop. They WILL fix it under warranty. I am pissed.
Take it easy.
