Angry help please with knocking noise

my sister just got a 2004 f-150 and she only put 4000 miles on the truck. 4 days ago i took it in for a knocking noise at start up, then the knocking goes away after about 15 sec. i had takin it to get an oil change the day before but the knocking was there before the oil change. took it to the dealer and i told them the same story, so now they tell me that the truck need a ford oil filter and blamed that on the problem, now i know you can use any oil filter for any car or truck as long as it fits but im not to sure about these new engines is this true? and what could that knocking noise be? i think the dealer is full of ***** and doesnt know what they are doing. thanks

Some oil filters can cause problems because they dont have an anti drain back valve. Also i have heard that if you do not use the 5w20 oil it can cause a problem. Let them change the oil and filter and see if the noise goes away.If not then they will have to fix it.

I'll say you will have to put a ford filter on to take that out of the picture, just to satisfy ford, then if that don't fix the problem they will have to fix.

Please tell me the 04's dont have Piston slap also

I don't have an 04, but I would hope they had corrected that problem.

Use the Motorcraft filter. It is a very good filter with a silicone anti- drainback valve

Good luck.
