Line- X vs Bedliner

I am thinking about having Line-X sprayed on the bed of my 04 F- 150 SCrew XLT instead of the standard truck bed liner ( forgot to negotiate that into my purchase price) any body have any opinions regarding Line- X vs. Rhino or just the good old truck bed liner?

Is there any resale/ trade-in issues?

As far as I know there are no issues with resale trade in, should in fact protect your investment if you get a spray on by avoiding rust. I have had a Rhino spray on for over 4 years, it has grayed a bit but I prefer the rubber feel to the hard sand-paper feel of Line-X.

In my old truck I had a drop in, I just got line X in my new truck. And one thing i've noticed is that the drop in lineres increase road noise, while the spray in liners dampen it.

Get the Line-X. And just to clarify, Line-X is a bedliner.

stay away from the drop ins.

cheap crappy plastic that rubs at the painted metal under it.

Go with the spray in or nothing at all. I would not give a truck with drop-in liner any additional dollars becuase they also damage the trucks.

Line-X is a more durable material than Rhino. Not to say that Rhino is crap, but for my money I had Line-X sprayed in mine. I tested Diamond Liner which is almost the same thing as Line-X. There is a lot of explanation to all of this that can be found here:

and here:

And FWIW, i put my money where my mouth is and I have a Line-X sprayed in 04. I would never have anything else in my truck.

BrewMaster,

Did you ever get to test any Line-X samples?

Thanks!

Steve

How long does it take to have the Line -X sprayed???

I am leaning towards the Line -X, but they are tough to get a hold of, not many dealers in the Mass area.

Moonbeam,

no, I never got the samples. I gave up long ago. Their product is great, but their service for samples sucks. the Diamond Liner is almost identical. one of the companies (line-x or Diamond liner) was started by someone leaving the other company. Not sure which came first, but they are very similar products. Line-X seems to have better quality control IMO so I went with them.

eastcoastScrew,

the actual spraying takes only 15 minutes, but it takes about an hour to prep the truck. so a total of about 1.5 hours in and out. the shop i went to let me go in with them and watch the whole thing being done. they cover the truck up really well. each dealer is independently owned and operated, but they are all trained the same way so there is consistency from dealer to dealer. i had my appointment in the morning for 2 reasons. 1) i don't want to be the last of the day so they are rushing to get mine done. that's a chance for sloppy work. and 2) if someone else is late to their appointment, i will be running late too. i did mine on a Saturday morning and it was great. total was $315 using a $50 coupon I got at the off road expo in October. if you go with Line-X, you won't regret it. hope this helps.
