L.A. Auto Show

So I hit the Auto Show yesterday to check out the current offerings. I sat in a Titan and I must say other than the seats being comfy, it was pretty much a disastrous mix of cheap looking plastics, ugly interior and wretched sheet metal. I can say with utter conviction that this truck is subpar when compared to the F150.

I sat in a Chevy Colorado and I actually liked that truck more than the Silverado. The only things I didn't care for were the so so looking interior and the Picasso-esque shapes of the fender flares.

I sat in a white Lariat SCrew with floor shift. The seats were hard and very uncomfortable. Granted, there wasn't any power, so I really couldn't get the seats in a good position. The floor shifter felt so cheap. I was very disappointed in that. My whole deal about the new F150's was how neat the shifter is, but the quality, or lack of, completely washed away any desire to get it. I just sat there with my hand on it and couldn't get over how flimsy it felt. It feels like the same kind of plastic used for CD jewel cases. Not good.

I also sat in a true blue FX4 SCrew. That color sure looked pretty under those bright lights. It had the cloth "bench" seats and man, were those comfy as hell. Nice and soft and supportive. I guess I'll be re-evaluating the desire for captain's chairs. It's really too bad Ford doesn't offer the same type of captain's chair option that is available in the XLT. I love captain's chairs. But it's one or the other and that floor shifter is really pissing me off.

One other observation. The FX4 had GY Wranglers and for some reason they appear to be taller than the BFG's, even though they are the same size. Weird.
