04 5.4 owner give me a hand please..

If someone with a 04 f150 5.4 would take the time to check something under the hood It would be appreciated.

The other day I noticed my air cleaner snorkle was not properly mounted in the fender. I pushed it in and it popped in place.
I then noticed a bracket mount (or what looks like one) coming off the fender under the air cleaner snorkle. It looks like a bracket that would secure the snorkle would mount there but on my truck there is nothing on it. That leaves the snorkle to run from the motor to the fender unsecured . Just doesn't seem like that would be right.
If someone would go pop there hood and see if maybe a bracket was left off my truck I would really appreciate it. I already found a full port vacum hose left uncapped about a week ago so I am a little leary. Hope I didn't buy a truck built on friday at 4:59pm lol..

Really I love this truck. My 92 f150 has 225,000 on it and I expect more from this one...
Thanks for the help

sonnyxlt,

I see the same "bracket mount" on my engine, but there is no bracket to the air cleaner there. The air cleaner bracket nearest to the fender is next to the power steering fluid resevoir.

checked mine too

checked mine also,, probably along with everyone else on this forum,, also seen the "bracket",, don't know what this is for ,,but snorkel on air cleaner was secure,, is secured by windshield washer on bracket with large bolt,, this is all you should need,, found another problem though,, did you notice how alot of wires are wrapped in electrical tape ??? once the heat hits this the tape ends will start to unwrap from wind and heat,,(found some already) either going to put ties on mine or a dab of black silicone to stop tape from unwrapping,, just a minor issue,, also love my truck

John

Where did you get your Line-X installed? Also, where did you purchase your bed mat?

TIA
Tom

The "bracket" yu speak of is the mounting place for the old cone filter that is still on the 4.6L, the fender side of the filter box is attached to those mounting points.

Tom,

The Line-X was done by Auto Truck Outfitters (Glen Mills, PA). They are on the northbound side of route 202, just south of route 1.

I bought the bed mat from Sloan Ford...$49.99+tax.

Thanks John. They are the ones I contacted by e-mail. It looks like they did a very nice job. I'll call this week to schedule an appointment. The bed mat adds a nice touch.

Thanks again,
Tom

Tom,

Yeah, they did a pretty nice job on my truck. When you bring your truck into them, go over exactly how you want them to spray...I specifically asked them to remove the bolts in the floor of the bed (I think they spray them by default) and the oval plugs in the front of the bed. They asked me whether I wanted the top of the front rail sprayed, which I did. They automatically remove the tie down hooks and the tailgate access cover and screws.

I like the look of the Ford bed mat, plus I haul firewood a lot, so it gived me a little extra protection from dents in the bed floor.

Any pics of your truck yet?

Good luck,
John
