My brother recently bought an '04 Avalanche and I'm awaiting my '04 FX4 Screw (any day now). We've been giving each other crap for a few days now. I had to give him crap about having 300HP to his 295HP. We're both wondering what REAL HP they have and which would be quicker. The '04 F150s are 500-600lbs heavier than last year and the Avalanche is heavy already, being built on the Suburban chasis.

Anyone race one yet? I know, sounds pretty silly, not that either of them are remotely fast (I'm trading in my modified Lightning)!

 

Well first the new F-150 looks 3498543408234 times better then an avalanche and second I think the new F-150 would have no problem beating an avalanche in a race after broken-in.

 

I normally don't post negative posts but the Avalanche is the ugliest pickup ever built-only GM could build a monstrosity like that. The speed thing wouldn't even come in to consideration-I couldn't drive something that looked that bad. Sorry.

 

Actually if they would have put the tahoe front end on it it would not look so ugly. I am not sure what Chevy was thinking when they put that new front end on the trucks.

 

Oh yeah, I don't even go there (how ugly it is) with him. There's actually an Avalanche Group and Forum. They do drives etc...

His big thing is 1. Gas Mileage 2. Which one is faster

 

I don't know about a drag race, but in an ugly race the bufugly Avalanche would win hands down.

 

I think the aval. has 285hp. If it is a 2wd it will probaly beat you in a drag race. Those 5.3 gm motors run good. I have a '04 FX4 screw and never raced anything in it so I'm not sure, but I think the aval will be a little faster. I really hope you win and keep us posted, please

 

Gee, I thought that the Avalanche was made by Rubbermaid, not GM. It sure looks like it.

 

only General Motors could conceive, engineer and actually produce vehicles like the Avalance, Aztek, Astro and Rendevous.

Ford has had some design challenges, but nothing quite as bad, and often, as GM .....

 

Not sure if this helps you any but my buddy has an 03 Avalanche 4X4, and when we ran from a stop light up to about 70mph we were pretty much even. I have a much lighter vehicle than your 04 and a 4.6L but thought I would through this in....
