GM half ton crew cab

Has anyone seen the new half ton crew Chevy and GMC is introducing in January? I read that they are priced slighty higher than the Ford Supercrew.

Wonder if they will drop the Avalanche?

1) who cares.
2) avalanche will never be dropped while its sales are still so high.

Yeah, I've seen a couple of GM's pics of the truck. It's basically a GM version of the Screw. No doubt it's a great idea, just too bad that Ford beat them to it by 3 years. I read that they were supposed to be available in December, but I have yet to see one on the lot. All I see are the 3/4 ton crewcab/shortbox trucks. Since it is a GM product, I am sure it will be overpriced.

I haven't really seen that man Avalanches out recently. I do remember many when they first were introduced. I got to borrow one for a weekend to move some firewood once. the whole transformation thing was fun, well-done and gimmicky. But now I have a longbox and I can have 8ft. of cargo AND 3 people in the back seat less six inches of foot room. So where is the sense in that? Has anyone seen the version of it without the caldding? It's supposed to be less horrendous.

i still fail to see why a person would want a midget-like bed. that's part of the reason I see no value in having a crew cab from Ford. But, I guess to each his own. Ford beat GM to the midget-bed style, but GM beat (and continues to beat) Ford with actually offering a crew cab with full size bed options. And now that GM offers a midget bed, that means they have yet even MORE options than Ford... tisk tisk...

I think Ford has offered crewcab trucks with fullsize beds for as long as GM, maybe longer. Granted, they are 3/4 and 1 ton trucks but so are GM's. I know GM has had the 1500 Heavy Duty for a few years, but what is the deal with those? They are basically a cross between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks without the advantages of either. It's a truck that looks like a 1/2 ton, rides and handles like a 3/4 ton but can't tow or haul what a 3/4 ton can. And they also have to have aftermarket accessories designed specifically for them.

I have first hand experience back in late 2001. The Ford 1/2 ton Screw would have been like buying a midsize SUV. I wanted a 1/2 ton crewcab with at least a 6.5' bed. GM had these so-called 1500HD's but they were optioned up with leather and all the extra poo. I could buy much more truck, Chevy 3/4HD Crew, for the same or less money than either the Ford or GM 1/2 ton crews. Leaf spring superduty crews were out of the question.

I don't know why GM is going to the small box of the old Ford Screw. It must be SUV buyers (small enough to park) that Ford was attracting. I thought the stupid Avalanche was for that market.

Is that what the colorado is? Ive been seeing them all around here lately, but didnt realize it was full-size, i thought it was a S10 replacement. So if its full size, why are they still offering the silverado?

Yes, the crewcab 1/2 ton we are talking about is an option for Silvarado/Sierra fullsize pickups. The Colorado/Canyon is the midsize replacement for the S10/Sonoma. I beleive they are gonna be closer in size to the Dodge Dakota than the old S10's.

I was on the highway the other day and some dealer idiot was tailgaiting me with the ugliest front end I have ever seen. I moved over to let it pass just so I could see what it was. It was a Canyon crew cab.

The thing looks like the Avalanche and the Aztec bumped bumpers and had an illegitimate child.
